Edit to add: Wow, my first photo on explore! Thanks so much.

I never tire of this landscape. Taken on the way down from the mountain, showing a fairly rural area with a few quiet houses. Not too far from a city, however!

Taken while in a moving car, so excuse any slight blurs ☺

Explore #1 - Highest Position, October 3rd. Thanks everyone!

Earlier this week, the central California coast was blessed with its first real sunset since the summer marine layer began way back in May. That light caused a furor around the Bay Area, with lots of photogs hoping that the winter sunset season had begun.

So it came as no surprise when this past week I received a flurry of text messages asking how the evening clouds looked here at the coast in Santa Cruz. But sadly, the entire week was crystal-clear and cloudless. Until Friday night that is. A few clouds started to build, but nothing to get too exited about. Nevertheless, I knew there were some keen shooters out there, so I got in touch with Jave and David, and talked about the clouds a bit.

Both guys decided to roll on out to the coast to shoot Natural Bridges even if it meant shooting in less than spectacular conditions. As we got to the beach however, it became apparent that the sky was going to BLOW UP (to use the appropriately Jave vernacular). When the color did arrive, it was so full and beautiful that it caused us to lose all rationality and run around like chickens, scratching in the sand and shooting shooting shooting.

Afterward we kept talking about how it was the best light we've ever seen at NB (either in person or in photos). Simply amazing.

In Raw Converter:

- Dropped my exposure by about 0.4 stops to make the colors richer

- Global contrast for added pop

- Local contrast adjustments to water streaks to add definition

In Photoshop:

- Noise reduction via Neat Image

- Selective Sharpening of arch

- Slight brightness and contrast boost to foreground

- Slight brightness and contrast boost to bridge to enhance the light there

- Luminosity mask on bright brights with darkening curves layers to improve color near the horizon on the right hand side

Around Piazza del Popolo, I spotted two young ladies walking and chatting: both wearing beautiful hats. I was hanging around with Oshun and Desiree: I asked them what they thought and we all agree I should have a go at stopping them.

I approached with the usual description of the project and when I asked for her name, to my surprise it was Claudia, exactly the very same name of my previous stranger!

Claudia was wearing also some cool sunglasses and I fired off a few images of Claudia with those on I asked Claudia if we could take a few pictures without glasses and when I showed her the result on the camera screen, Claudia seemed to prefer those with the glasses on.

As soon as I had the chance to see the result on the computer screen, I was really impressed with the strong Mediterranean look of this beautiful lady and, in my opinion, the eyes definitely need to be seen!

Thank you Claudia, I hope you like this!

This is not a new technique. Have seen a lot with rings. Thought of using my lens filter for the same.

Lately spending a lot of time reading and playing with lenses! :)

Macro Mondays Theme: Heart ❤️

Made this heart with ribbon I used round the christmas cake last year. It had wire at the edges to bend into shape. Surrounded it with heart confetti.

Really appreciate all your comments and favourites as always. HMM to one and all! It's half term this week so won't have as much time to comment as normal, but will try my best!! Have a great week everyone.

South Michigan Ave, Chicago, Feb2006

This photo somehow reminds me the semi-surrealist, art-deco style paintings of my favorite painter Gustav Klimt. Chicago awakened my spiritual poetic view to the world. The trees with branches tied together and the lights that become more vivid in the misty rainy streets.

On a typical early June afternoon a cruise train returns to Seward after exchanging passengers at the Alaska Railroad Depot at the Ted Stevens International Airport. The Northbound leg of this trip was all passengers ending their stay in Alaska while the southbound is all passengers just beginning their trip in Alaska. The railroad spends a fair amount of time along Turnagain Arm as they approach Brookman in this view.

There are many ways to describe a poppy, but none describes her delicate red soul ...

Happy evening, all!

Last year we celebrated birthday of my mom with a dinner in the historical Sargans Castle, located at the foothills of the Swiss Alps. We had the 500 year old castle all to ourselves for the evening. We explored the 500 year old castle before dinner - this is the entrance hall.

I processed a balanced, a paintery, and a photographic HDR photo from two RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

The Highlands of Iceland cover most of the interior of Iceland. They are situated above 400–500 metres and are mostly an uninhabitable volcanic desert, because the water precipitating as rain or snow infiltrates so quickly into the ground that it is unavailable for plant growth. This results largely in a surface of grey, black or brown earth, lava and volcanic ashes

Is coming back!!

Taken ont he 2nd - I've got about 30 photos I've never uploaded, oops.

Little Lougheed is a short and steep hike in Spray Valley Provincial Park. The trail is near Dead Man's Flats, Alberta. Generally considered a challenging route. No official parking area for Little Lougheed. Park on the shoulder of Smith-Dorrien Trail (Hwy 742) next to the trailhead.

We waited on the side of the road for companion, until one car came, a couple with a dog, they said, one friend would come with his dog. Finally, 5 people, with two dogs as a group.

Little Lougheed is an unofficial trail in Spray Valley Provincial Park, unmarked but well-established route. Starting through the dense forest and cross over the streams, continuing the steep climb up, straight up all the way along the mountainside with consistent and noteworthy views! Reaching summit involves light scrambling, be careful the loose rocks.

The top of Little Lougheed offers a stunning view of the Spray Lakes Reservoir, with Old Goat Mountain and Mount Nestor across the valley. The views of the larger peaks of Mount Lougheed, to the south the majestic Mount Sparrowhawk, and a little farther North The Rimwall. Strong wind on the peak, bring extra clothes.

The photo is the panorama of 11 photos on the peak.
