Connectivity and readymade.
Experimenting, manipulating and combining daily life objects in order to attempt, to force or to mystify a workable connection between them, at least to make it visible and/or possible. This exercise is to be considered as a warm-up, a first step towards a further installation or project.

a spread in my Amber art book that I did in August - was experimenting with white on white layers
here are the layers as I remember them:
1: gesso
2: collage with white papers
3: texture using fiber paste and modeling paste with stencils
4: some white and turquoise gelatos to bring out the texture
5: finishing touches with ivory Faber Castel marker, gold Sharpie and woodgrain word stickers
This was the second of Kristin Prather's series of Science and Math Workshops at the library. They are for Intermediate School students to learn basic math and science concepts through FUN activities and demonstrations. They will get to make rockets, search the stars, and test mind-boggling physics theories. Let's not forget playing math games!
March 15 (Science) : 3-6 PM
March 29 (Math) : 12-3 PM
April 26 (Science) : 12-3 PM
May 3 (Math) : 12-3 PM
All workshops are in the Activity Room in the Friendswood Public Library.
I went back to a photo from the Harpa in Reykjavik and starting thinking about playing with it. I've sliced each of the color windows onto a different layer in Photoshop and then played with the colors there. Too much? I think I may need to experiment more in this space. Constructive critique is welcome.

More experiments with off the camera flash. This time though with a bottle of eau de toilette encased in a clear acrylic box - Carolina Herrera 212.
With the flash to the front, the light is harsh and nasty even with a Stofen diffuser.

Asrul is holding the strobe with his right hand, strobe is facing his face and the mug to create that white lines effect that I like.. I dunno what they call it.. :D
Some experiments in photoshop. Just started using photoshop. I really don't like to manipulate the pics taken but it's interesting to learn :)
Original snap was taken by a friend of mine in manali when all of us posed in the local dress.
I experimented with this one, zooming during the exposure, which created the feathery light trails and squiggly lines seen here.
© Copyright Jan Richards I was experimenting with how to send a homemade birthday cake over the miles. This time, it was a coconut cake for our daughter's birthday. She was in Nashville, working on her master's degree at Vanderbilt, and going through a very busy quarter. I offered to make her one of her favorite cakes, but was not sure if it would work to send it. I made two cakes out of one recipe, using these little 5" cake pans. Then I sent packaged frosting (could not frost the cake in the homemade 7-min frosting!), coconut, and various candies to decorate it, if desired. The 5" cake is a great size for us, too, when it is just the two of us enjoying cake now and then.
