Trigger Trap Setting - Star Trails

Light Experiments, done with:

(1) a glow stick

(2) long shutter speeds and,

(3) An imagination

Only used a canon 130 Ixus and darkness. No Photoshop.

Tape, color pencil sharps and embroidery thread. (2010)

An experiment using type as image to capture the mood of this poem by Wilfred Owen.

The Unreturning

Suddenly night crushed out the day and hurled

Her remnants over cloud-peaks, thunder-walled.

Then fell a stillness such as harks appalled

When far-gone dead return upon the world.

There watched I for the Dead; but no ghost woke.

Each one whom Life exiled I named and called.

But they were all too far, or dumbed, or thralled,

And never one fared back to me or spoke.

Then peered the indefinite unshapen dawn

With vacant gloaming, sad as half-lit minds,

The weak-limned hour when sick men's sighs are drained.

And while I wondered on their being withdrawn,

Gagged by the smothering Wing which none unbinds,

I dreaded even a heaven with doors so chained.

Usually used for interesting experiments in science. Let's say we're stretching frog's chests in order to understand heart revolution.

My dear friend Gerda thought me the basics of enameling two years ago. Only recently I started experimenting with this newly learned skills...

The result are these two brooches.

Enamel on copper and silver, rubber cord, stainless steel pushpins.

Lunchbox Laboratory is my kind of burger joint - fresh, local, grass fed

beef, local veggies, shakes made with seasonal ingredients (no, you

can't have a strawberry shake in winter), HFCS-free sodas. They even

get the serving details right, a ceramic plate and fancy All Clad pot

for the tots.

After expending 1000 calories running around in a circle, it hits the

spot. Today's was lamb, caramelized onion, blue cheese and bacon with

a marionberry shake and tots. And, yes, it's a messy affair.

WeeklyBeats2 submission - This week left me short of time, but I did manage to get this done. Simple attempt at some atmospheric with a bit of instrument placement intent. I was envisioning a bit of background music for a space science show or video game... maybe something like the expository scenes in Homeworld.

A series of brief experiments for the Peanut Balancing pool.

Subject: Cashew Nuts

Observation: Hopeless. Far too polished and eccentric in shape.

There is a hole outside my appartment that in the future will hold a parking garage. It is a pity, because the garage is going to destroy my direct view of the sunrise over the swamp from the breakfast table.

In the meantime, I have set it up as a sedimentology lab experiment. In the heavy summer downpours here in Houston, there is actually some erosion of sand from the neighbours' flower beds. This flows down a footpath and empties into "Garage construction lake" at the base of the picture here (notice channel scour) and then builds a nice friction dominated mouthbar of rippled sand into the shallow water. The picture is unfortunately not that good, there are actually two separate lobes built at various water depths and in two separate episodes of sedimentation (aka rain showers!)

Had some mist in my backyard and looked a bit mystical.

On an aluminum tray, salt, sulfur were heated until the salt was melted. The frozen salt contained sulfide and possibly, disulfide ions. This was then added to a solution of sodium silicate and dissolved by boiling the solution.

To this solution was added another solution containing sodium chloride and aluminum sulfate. When they combined, a white precipitate formed. This was strained and dried, then melted with a MAPP gas torch.

My 32 lb Underwood typewriter...

I wanted to play with led's and see what kind of light I would get from them. I also wanted to see how they would look in a picture inside of a balloon. I had mixed results and this was the only really decent picture from this experiment.

one day at home...and i have a NikonD90 Pinhole-Box

i heard from a method to do pinhole photography with a room as camera, so today i decided to build such a pinhole cam by my self.

I took a carton box and cut two holes in it, one for the camera and one for the light. At the back inside the box i had a white sheet of paper.

The pinhole wasn´t really a pinhole it was more a penhole...

here u see what i got from this experiment, you have to view it big to see the results.

This is my first entry for the MA over at MOCpages. I would appreciate some feedback before I make this official. Better quality photos: www.mocpages.com/moc.php/314280. Link to the MA for those of you who want to check it out: www.mocpages.com/group.php/19864.

iPhone's latest software update, IOS 7, added a panorama feature to the camera...I made a couple run-of-the-mill "panos" (Apple seems to love applying their own terms to things that are already established, have you ever noticed that?), quickly grew bored with them, and decided to experiment with it. These were all taken out the window of a moving bus. I sometimes held my iPhone normally, sometimes horizontally, sometimes upside-down, and so forth, manipulating the way the image was recorded. I rather like the results.

Scientists recently performed three more experiments on local freshwater mussels. The purpose was to measure how much pollutants are removed as these animals filter water clean while they eat. This will help tell planners how investments in mussel restoration lead to cleaner water. Imagine if we could decrease our need for water treatment simply by investing in shellfish, many of which can live up to a century. Visit DelawareEstuary.org/freshwater-mussels to learn more.

So I’m finally back home and waiting for me was the Ideal Eric doll by dollsahoy. I also bought another Resort Grace cuz I’ve grown to like the one I got and needed another body lol.

Happily, Grace matches my Repro Julia perfectly and is the same skin tone as my Silkstone Francie and Pop Life Christie body. When I get my hands on a jointed ankle Grace I might switch my Silkstone Francie head onto it.

Turns out Grace’s straight legs are solid vinyl so it took a lot of carving to get the Volks connectors to fit in the knee area.

For my other Grace body I first tried on a normal caucasian Barbie legs on it, but then the skin tone match bugged me so I put the caucasian legs on a Nikki Fashionista and put the Nikki legs on my Grace body so the skin tone differences are much less obvious. It’s not perfect but since legs don’t really come near the face it’s passable.

I need to get some clothes for Eric but whatevs lol.
