This is a photograph from the East of Ireland Marathon Series Marathon held at Stapelstown, Donadea, Naas, Co. Kildare, Ireland at 09:00 on Saturday 21st of September 2013. This is the first East of Ireland Marathon Series race outside of Dublin and also the first to have been run on rural roads and is race 5 of the East of Ireland Marathon Series 2013.
There was beautiful but warm weather in Stapelstown for the marathon which made conditions tougher than expected. The course brought runners on a loop from the village over towards Prosperous, Co. Kildare, and then back to the finish/refreshment area. The event was very well organised and whilst these races operate with a degree of self sufficiency for runners there was adequate marshalling, course marking, and refreshments available. Well done to all.
The East Of Ireland Marathon Series aims to make marathons affordable and convienient for the runners of Ireland. The serires organisers aim to promote marathon running and to make the process as stress free and enjoyable as possible. All courses are measured to full AAI standards and have a minimum of 10 Entrants. The marathons are self sufficent to a degree although there are limited supplies of water available on the day of the race. There will be no extra frills like chip timing and finish gantrys. However all finishing times are accurately and officially recorded. This is to keep the price down and keep the races as affordable as possible. The East of Ireland Marathon series is all inclusive and welcomes runners who are new to marathon running as well as experienced veterans.

Overall Race Summary
Participants: The East of Ireland marathon series stricly limits the number of participants. There were about 50 participants in the race today.
Weather: There was warm sunny weather for the race with competitors finding the humid conditions very tough as the race progress on around mid day. There was no real wind but a breeze which did help keep runners cool.
Course: The race started at St. Kevin's GAA and proceeded west into Stapelstown Village and reached a turnaround point which brought runners back to the starting point. This meant that runners then had to complete four complete loops of the 6.09 mile loop outlined below. This loop then proceeded directly southwards towards Prosperous but makes a sharp right turn before Properous village. This brings runners onto the Ballynafagh road and northwards back towards Stapelstown village. Runners then run down through the village (passing the finish and refreshment area) to complete the loop. The course is on traffic open country roads.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.
I want to tell people about these great photographs!

Expect really poor audio when the stock housing is used with no skeletol back door and stock microphone is in use. Very muffled and sounds like your speaking into a tin can. GoPro missed the mark on audio for the H3, other than to use an external microphone.
When she was just a girl
She expected the world
But it flew away from her reach
So she ran away in her sleep
And dreamed of para-para-paradise
Para-para-paradise
Para-para-paradise
Every time she closed her eyes
When she was just a girl
She expected the world
But it flew away from het reach
And the bullets catch in her teeth
Life goes on, gets so heavy
The wheel breaks the butterfly
Every tear a waterfall
In the night, the stormy night
She'd close her eyes
In the night, the stormy night
Away she'd fly
And dreams of para-para-paradise
Para-para-paradise
Para-para-paradise
Oh oh oh (x2)
La la la la
So lying underneath the stormy skies
She'd say, oh oh oh
'I know the sun will set to rise'
This could be para-para-paradise
Para- para- paradise
Could be para-para-paradise
Oh oh oh (x3).

Viewer: WTF?!
Yo Spiff: It's an alien abduction of a banana.
Viewer: You really expect me to believe that's a UFO? Looks like a desk lamp to me!
Yo Spiff: As with any good sci-fi, you need to maintain a willing suspension of disbelief in order to appreciate the genre.
Viewer: Uh, OK, but why are they abducting a BANANA?!
Yo Spiff: To crossbreed with the cows they picked up on the last visit. The banana milkshakes are out of this world!

This weekend's project involved finding out why the rear suspension seemed to have a mind of its own. This car always had a low rear standing height that I attempted to correct by adjusting the sensor arm, which seemed to work for a while. But it was always too eager to exhaust the rear suspension and took a lot of encouragement to get it pumped back up. I investigated further after it permanently deflated by itself and the diagnostic trees all pointed to a defective sensor, which I never would have expected. With a new (to me) sensor, it levels exactly as I remember it should, just a few seconds of delay without having to screw with the gearshift.
Pics posted to link to this car's project thread on the Cadillac message board.
Sunday was a beautiful day and not what we expect around these parts in winter. The paths along the canal and river were non stop with walkers-and dogs! I had a bit of a mixed day, flitting between the hills and the valley bottom. I saw nothing much on the moors but I sat sunbathing on a broken down wall, not really bothered as it was so peaceful, calm and warm. A barge making its way towards Marsden on the canal is something of a rarity these days and it was going to find a shortage of water a couple of locks further on as one section was very low. I managed to catch a grey squirrel drinking at the waters edge with a nice reflection in the calm water. A Treecreeper and a Coal Tit were flitting around the same dead tree stumps. I also took my first photos of the Dippers for the first time for several months, they seem to be on a stretch of river set back from the busy paths.
We have come to expect deeply sensitive subjects from Anna Rottenberg. Her current exhibition āProgress and Hygieneā is not a joking matter as well. The famous Polish curator is showing us that grand ideas can devolve very easily and rebound upon us.
Glass Man is standing in front of the main entrance to ZachÄta National Gallery in Warsaw. His transparent skin reveals internal organs and the circulatory system. With his hand raised he becomes the symbol of power over his own body. Proud to be a man, gratified at his human perfection and on the right path to self-annihilation. āProgress and Hygieneā is an exhibition-essay which reveals the dark side of development, improvement and the traps of utopia.
This lengthy essay begins with an ironic story about the contemporary cult of the perfect body. Zbigniew Liberaās penis extension device like weight training apparatus is flawless caricature of modern obsessions. However, it is only a warm-up. Numerous rooms follow disclosing much more obscure subjects like eugenics, social engineering, race hygiene and extermination. It is a story about denaturalisation, where hygiene is concerned with appropriate skin tone, eye colour or nose shape. āBathroomā painted by Luc Tuymans is one of the most intriguing and disturbing pieces. In fact the apparently clean space is a laboratory in a German concentration camp where prisoners were skinned. In this case cruelty is cunningly hidden behind a sterile and neutral layer. Unfortunately, this idea is pretty hard to catch for the average visitor. āProgress and Hygieneā is a deep didactic analysis, which is difficult to understand without prior explanations. Anda Rottenberg gives us a thought-provoking lesson, which deserves to be examined all-around.

Well, today my ongoing saga of root canal treatment hopefully crawled across the line.
Such was the general level of shitness of my day, I almost expected the root canal to be the highlight.
It wasn't. It did not go easily.
