Didn't expect to finish the whole roll with 1 lens. But it's fine. Had fun shooting with telephoto lens. Recently, I had been trying out the different telephoto lens I have. It's not easy to get focus to infinity like other lens. Have to focus and decide what to be in focus. Even so, focus may shift. Some practice is still required.

As expected, with the semi-auto camera, things get snappy. Frame and check speed. If correctly exposed, full press down (actually half). Still have the habit of looking out of the viewfinder to check aperture settings.

expectancy and baby

My first false widow! Found at work and brought home for a quick shoot before setting it free.

It was much bigger than I expected, being almost the size of a regular house spider, which I assumed it was at first until I saw that it was not hairy enough and its legs not long enough. It was very timid, and like most spiders, tried to run and hide rather than be aggressive. Once I got close I could see its eye arrangement was quite unusual in that the eyes are larged more pronounced than most web-building spiders whose eyes are generally useless and tend to be not much more than pin-pricks.

There have been a lot of stories in the UK press about false widows recently, most of it not true or grossly exaggerated. I tend to swicth off as soon as I see the word 'poisonous' as most journalists seem unwilling or unable to find out the difference between poisonous and venomous. Yes, false widows are venomous, as are all spiders. They are also one of the few species in the UK with fangs capable of piercing human skin. As with most spiders, they are timid and prefer to escape rather than attack, but may bite when cornered. The symptoms are fairly mild and do not generally require medical attention although probably more unpleasant than any other spider purely because we have no significantly venomous spiders here. It's not an invasive species, having been present in this country for at least 100 years, so the stories of swarms of invading spiders (tabloids like to use the hysterical immigrant angle) are not true. They are also not closely related to black widows. They are both members of the family of comb-footed spiders, along with around 2000 other species. Those species known as false widows belong to the genus Steatoda. Black widows and related similar species belong to the genus Lactrodatus. The name only comes from their passing physical resemblence and give that one is brown while the other is black (usually with distinctive bright red markings), the connection is tenuous to say the least. So for most of the press stories to call them 'cousins' of black widows and run stories including pictures of black widows is misleading at best and irresponsible at worst. The word 'deadly' is also often used when there are no recorded deaths from Steatoda bites, and most of the stories I have read (as well as most stories regarding other spider bites) the victim of the bite did not see, let alone capture, the creature that bit them. I have noticed for some time that people often wake up with bites and assume a spider bit them in the night when it was far more likely to have been a flea, bed bug, mosquito or some other creature which survives by drinking blood. And yet spiders are usually assumed to be to blame. I noticed that most of these 'false widow bite' stories are a result of bites that are assumed to be from them even though the creature itself is never seen.

Okay, I like these a lot more than I first expected. They are clean, contrasty, and sharp. Sure, there's a bit of visible grain, but overall, it adds to the sharpness. The contrast is deep and rich, exactly what I expect from a cinefilm! I think the bit of overexposure and slight pull in development work perfectly, although I could have developed them at the listed nine minutes.

I still always expect for a alien ship to come bursting out (movie fans will know which film I mean)

I really have no clue. Except that I know that the leprechaun is a good dancer and has tipped up points on his shoes and he showed me a dime he found earlier in the evening and I took a picture of it for him.

A photographer's life is rarely dull.

We wait for something always. In turn in shop. How many remains days before holiday. When the kid will be born. Increases in career. When crisis will come to an end. In a rush hour...

This person is obviously tired from something, it seems to me that he has got tired to wait.

Taeyang Sebastian PTV!!! I totally didn't expect him. Suprise form my nan!!!

All exhibitors are expected to care for their horses (feed, water and manure disposal) and cooperate in keeping pens and alleys clean, neat and attractive. 4-H clubs are automatically judged for Herdsmanship ribbons.

The 4-H Western Horse Show 3 includes Western Bareback Equitation, Western Pleasure Ponies. These classes showcase the horse’s movement and ability, as well as the exhibitor’s horsemanship. Stock horses are typically used, with western attire and tack.

The Super Fair is produced by Lancaster County Agricultural Society, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that promotes agriculture, youth and community. Learn more about Super Fair at SuperFair.org

This rabbit lives in my yard and spends most of her time under my arborvitae tree in the backyard. I have photographed her many times, as she lets me get within a few feet of her. She had a male visitor last week, so I am expecting lil' ones soon!

Traffic on the feeders outside Epping Forest Field Center

We were expecting wind gusts, but on the morning we left, they were higher than previously predicted. As we felt the wind would not by itself pose a safety hazard, as we weren't traversing exposed ridges, we felt it would be more a nuisance than anything. We were correct, a nuisance, and a cold one at that. It doesn't show on the stills, but the videos show that ice crystals were being driven by the wind blasts.

Cam loving mama's baby bump!

what you wish for!

Yes, I admit, I wanted excitement, adventure, something new and so on for my holiday! I just didn't expected it to start before I was even in England.

My plane was this little thing you can see in the lower right picture. Somewhere between Hannover and Manchester (okay, much closer to Hannover than to Manchester) the propeller on the right hand side stopped moving. Completely.

We turned round to get back to Hannover and what you see on these pictures are the first things we saw, when we reached ground. Didn't feel so great!

After some time we were told, that our flight was cancelled. Thing is, I needed to be in Glasgow the next morning to catch my train. So I booked on another flight for the same day to London/Stansted and on another one (different airline) from there to Glasgow. With 30 minutes in between to get my luggage and check in again....

It worked. I arrived in Glasgow at around 11 pm (instead of 6.30 pm) but I was there.

Now I've got to deal with the airline to get the money for those two extra flights back.

But well, after this, everything was just great.

Err, by the way: I'm back!!!!

If youre ready for the street

You wanna mix it in some fight

Let me tell you somethin

Now I dont wanna get you uptight

But if youre in a corner

And you cant find no way out

Dont look around for no help

No, no there wont be any around

So you think you got a case

And you think you know the score

No you dont wanna listen

You cant be told no more

But waitll you get out there

You better do it right

cause the streets are lined with things that kill

And theyre hidin in the night

Feel that you can cut it

You think you got the time

Theyll only give you one chance

Better get it right first time

And the game youre playing

If you lose you gotta pay

If you make just one wrong move

Youll get blown away

Steve is surveying the location. Dunes are strange places to shoot. Lots of options, but with the sun setting, the scene constantly evolves. Shadows lengthen, colors change. It's more challenging than I expected.

Spotted this ptarmigan on the slopes of Beinn Udlamain (which means gloomy hill!) and tentatively got my camera out of the rucksack, expecting it to fly off at any minute.. luckily it didn't and I managed to get this shot, albeit at the full range of my lens.
