I didn't expect to see another deconstruction as I pased this building on this day. (I actually expected it to start later this year).
Some friends of mine live right on the other side of the street and they have a webcam set up. Click this link to see it (on the bottom of the page)

I recently visited the Lower 9th Ward section of New Orleans. Never did I expect to witness the damage and destruction that still exists 4 and a half years after Hurricane Katrina hit. Itās really quite hard to explain the feeling when driving through this city. Itās what I would consider almost largely a modern day ghost town. With very few residents living in the homes that are actually visible and not overgrown by weeds and grass. Home after home is clearly not livable with spray painted marks on the front to let authorities know if there is anyone alive inside, if the gas is off, etc. Although the media reports rebuilding is going strong I sit here and can tell you out of the hundred of homes and empty lots I saw maybe 5 homes that were rebuilt.
See video I shot here.

I expected to find a few Los Angeles restaurants in this pile and indeed I did.
Wikipedia has an entry on this now closed Italian restaurant:
"Little Joe's Italian American Restaurant, now shuttered, has long stood in Chinatown, at the corner of Broadway and College Street. This is a testament of the former Italian American community that once populated the site of the current Chinatown. Actor Robert De Niro starred in the movie 15 Minutes, which was filmed at the former restaurant.
Little Joe's began in 1908 as the Italian-American Grocery company by John Nuccio, an Italian immigrant. When Italy sided badly in the war, many Italian businesses changed their names - Bank of Italy became Bank of America, and the Italian-American Grocery Company became Little Joe's. Little Joe's is not affiliated to any other restaurant that subsequently took the same name.
Robert Nuccio retired in 1922 and sold the business to his best friend, John Gadeschi. John's daughter Marion ended up marrying John Albert Nuccio (Robert's son) who went to work at the restaurant after his stint in WWII, and the business was back in the Nuccio family and remained there until it closed in 1998.
Most recently, the restaurant was operated by the third generation of Nuccio men: Steve, Bob and Jay. Jay went off on his own to The Crazy Horse, an Orange County (now West Covina) country-and-western bar/eatery. That left Steve (the eldest) and Bob (the youngest son) to operate Little Joe's.
The restaurant closed in December 1998. The owners, having waited for a revitalization of Chinatown and downtown as a night-time dining destination, decided ultimately that a good run had been had by all and that it was time to retire. With the revitalization of Old Pasadena, it became more and more difficult for downtown establishments to compete at dinner time.
As part of the revitalization movement of Chinatown, there are plans to turn the restaurant into a retail and residential hub with a large parking structure. However, very little construction activity has yet to take place at Little Joe's and other proposals for other buildings on the intersection of Broadway and College Street in Chinatown has not turned into action yet."
I was expecting a batch of postcards for my show opening on May 6th and yesterday I got...
AN EMPTY ENVELOPE!!!!
Yes, it looks like something savaged my mail and ripped out the things I needed. I was hoping to mail out a bunch of postcards to friends and family to promote my show.
Not this time!! Not yet at least. More might be on the way.
Dag nabbit.

I think most people would expect me to post chocolate for this clue, but my most favourite food would be blueberries. I have one bush that bears hardly a handful each year, but each one I treasure the taste. I can remember the first time I ever tasted a blueberry ... the way it exploded in my mouth ... and unlike chocolate, blueberries are seasonal ... making the anticipation each year a true treat

An old one, digging thru my pictures I found this one.

Of course he was looking at a ball up in the air, what else?
I've got to get some ideas to take different pictures of him, but that's difficult, because when I try he comes to see what I'm doing (wet nose against my camera) or he closes his eyes with a deep sigh.

I think part of me expected to be able to keep on keeping on. I don't mind stress, the majority of the time it's a very good motivator for me. But if you have a chance to catch your breath, sometimes that split second is what brings you to your knees. With the last few weeks taking on two 5 week classes (and making all As thus far thank you), a certification, dealing with work, missing my boyfriend, my crazy but loving family, the heat, the bills...eventually you stumble. I've never been one to admit defeat. And why there really isn't anything different going on, my mind sort of felt like it was unraveling. That list didn't even include everything I'm wanting or currently involved in with photography. I think I just have such a passion for life that sometimes I have to take a step back, recollect and then get right back on.
Sorry for the lameness in the photography. I can't really promise things will get better, I'm maxed out and I'm not going to give up on the 365-it just might be a bit weak for a while. <3

ARGUMENTOS A FAVOR DEL PARQUE TAMARGUILLO,
SU APERTURA INMEDIATA
Y EN CONTRA DE QUE LA SE-35 PASE A SU TRAVĆS
Sevilla, marzo de 2009
1. De orden social:
2. De orden ambiental:
3. De orden cultural y cientĆfico:
4. De orden educativo:
5. De orden económico:
a. MÔs de 12 millones de ⬠invertidos de fondos europeos (POMAL y FEDER).
b. Sostenibilidad.
6. De orden polĆtico:

Seen in 1958 Daf 600 Variomatic Publicity Brochure.
Original Daf 600 Variomatic sedan publicity brochure, to promote the first passenger car Daf had developed in the 1950s. It had an unique automatic transmission system with stepless acceleration.
The first Daf passenger car was announced in 1957 and officially presented in Febr. 1958.
Production started one year later in 1959.
The Daf 600 was designed by W. van den Brink with technical assistance of Johan van der Brugghen, and was replaced by both the 1961-63 Daf 750 and the 1961-65 Daffodil.
The differences between the standard 600 and the luxe version include the two-tone paint (six colours available), quarterlights in the door windows, hub-caps, chrome strips around the windows and chrome bumpers. In the interior there was more colour upholstery choice.
590 cc 2 cylinder air-cooled boxer engine.
600 kg.
Production Daf 600: 1959-1963.
Publisher: Van Doorne's Automobielfabrieken N.V., Eindhoven, (1958).
A4 size.
With many black & white photos and drawings.
I don't know if this brochure was intended for car dealers and potential buyers. Perhaps it was an internal brochure intended for its own employees. I inherited this brochure from an ex-Daf engineer who was involved in the development of the assembly line for the manufacture of the Daf 600.
