Okay, I'll admit, I'm not trying to be something I'm clearly not, and that is a portrait photographer.
I have a very hard time shooting people. I'm great at meeting people, talking to people and mingling, but I'm not good at working with people who want their photos taken.
Luckily, this is my wife and the pressure was off....somewhat!
I was hoping to marry my passion for landscape photography, something I know, with taking a photo of a person, something I don't know and get a respectable outcome.
I have to admit I'm pretty happy with these for my experience. I left the pose up to her as she knew what she wanted.

As expected, today’s individual time trial blew up the leader board at the Amgen Tour of California. After four straight days of Liquigas’ Peter Sagan’s dominating sprint finishes, an individual time trial was just what the doctor ordered to shake things up a bit.
American TT champion David Zabriskie of Garmin-Barricuda flew over the 18.4 miles of Stage 5, averaging over 30 miles per hour and finishing in 35:59. Zabriskie powered through Bakersfield’s 101 degree heat as he tackled the long, mostly flat course with a couple of hard climbs at the finish. Germany’s Jens Voigt, a crowd favorite from RadioShack Nissan-Trek, came in second, 23 seconds behind Zabriskie. American Tejay VanGarderen from BMC Racing, came in third place, 34 seconds off Zabriskie's pace.
Zabriskie’s effort ended Sagan’s four-day reign in the yellow jersey. Zabriskie gained 2:47 on Sagan as a result, dropping him to 31st place overall. Team Exergy’s sprinter Fred Rodriguez also gained time on Sagan. Freddie put in an outstanding ride and came in 30th on the day and now sits in 25th place overall, 2:13 off the lead.
Tomorrow the boys ride 115 miles from Palmdale to Big Bear, racking up more than 10,000 feet of climbing along the way. Two of the four KOMs top the 7,000 elevation mark. Possible morning winds could add to the difficulty, long before the climbs begin.
And if hard climbs and high winds aren’t enough to test the peloton, defending ATOC champion Chris Horner (RadioShack) sits2:50 seconds down in the standings after today’s TT and could very well be on the attack as he looks to realign the leader board. Pre-race favorite Vincenzo Nibali (Liquigas), who needs 1:52 to take over the yellow, might also be on the lookout to gain some time with attacks.

1. De orden social:
a. Expectativas de los vecinos de Parque Alcosa: el PGOU de 1987 calificaba este espacio como V-4. Los primeros vecinos del barrio pudieron disfrutar de este paraje antes de que se acelerara su degradación en los años 90
b. El Parque es hoy una realidad gracias a la movilización y la implicación ciudadana iniciada en 1996
c. Expectativas de dinamización social y de realización de actividades al aire libre (corredores de fondo, observadores de pájaros, fotógrafos de aviones y de la naturaleza, mantenimiento mayores, encuentro de jóvenes, etc…)
d. Éxito de proyectos en funcionamiento como “Huertos vecinales y Escolares" (60 familias y 1.500 escolares) y "Aula Verde” y la próxima realización de Proyectos aprobados en Presupuestos Participativos como “EcoAula”, “Cross Tamarguillo”, “Recorrido Botánico y Ornitológico”, “Celebración del día mundial del medio ambiente”, “Jornadas de encuentro sobre medioambiente urbano” y, especialmente, “la Ampliación de los Huertos Vecinales y Escolares” (150 familias y 3.000 escolares).
e. El trabajo en los Huertos potencia el deseable equilibrio entre lo rural y lo urbano en barrios periféricos caracterizado por una gran densidad demográfica.
2. De orden ambiental:
a. Pulmón verde: combate el cambio climático y minimiza la contaminación del aeropuerto.
b. Descongestiona el Parque del Alamillo que tiene problemas por estar sobre utilizado.
c. Humedal (valores ambientales excepcionales necesarios para la vida silvestre especialmente de las aves) que la ley obliga a proteger.
d. Defensa de la Biodiversidad (flora y fauna).
e. Espacio necesario para la conservación y protección de especies protegidas (p.e. lirón careto, tortuga leprosa, escribano palustre, rapaces y otros, algarrobos, quejigos, roble negro, etc.), así como para la recuperación de especies autóctonas.
f. Espacio especialmente beneficioso para las migraciones de las aves de Europa y África(tenemos una responsabilidad ¿que van a decir los diputados ecologistas europeos?).
g. Espacio de interés para la observación e investigación ambiental, donde se han realizado ya distintos estudios por parte de las Universidades.
h. Concienciación medioambiental, con un Proyecto pendiente de Centro de Interpretación Medioambiental.
i. Proyectos de instalaciones observables de generación de energía renovable que producirían energía para autoabastecer las necesidades del Parque.
j. Combate la emisión de CO2, el efecto invernadero, el calentamiento global y el cambio climático.
3. De orden cultural y científico:
a. El territorio contiene restos arqueológicos (yacimientos paleontológico, prehistórico, romano y moderno) de especial interés.
b. Existen investigaciones en curso de excepcional valor histórico.
c. Restos y edificaciones de valor etnográfico.
d. Proyectos en marcha con la Universidad para la puesta en valor de los restos, creación de recorridos arqueológicos y sala de exposición e interpretación.
e. Todo esto supone un enorme potencial para los centros educativos y para la investigación histórica.
4. De orden educativo:
a. Grandes posibilidades, ya demostrdas, para la educación ambiental y para la educación profesional al ubicarse junto al Cortijo San Ildefonso una Escuela Taller de la Delegación Municipal de Empleo que tendrá la oportunidad de desarrollar líneas de formación relacionadas con las actividades propias de los Parques.
b. Proyecto en funcionamiento de educación ambiental (Aula Verde), con el apoyo de la Consejería de Medio Ambiente, donde participan niños de 8 a 12 años.
c. Proyecto en funcionamiento (4 años) de Huertos Escolares, donde participan más de 1.500 escolares de los centros educativos del Parque Alcosa.
d. Colaboración con el IES Pablo Picasso en las áreas de Ciencias de la Naturaleza facilitando el desarrollo de Unidades Didácticas y Trabajos de Investigación, así como en el Programa Andarríos de la Consejería de Educación.
e. Educación para la convivencia, la participación y las actitudes emprendedoras.
f. Previsión de ampliar con los nuevos huertos la participación de todos los centros educativos del Distrito Este.
5. De orden económico:
a. Más de 12 millones de € invertidos de fondos europeos (POMAL y FEDER).
b. Sostenibilidad.
c. Inversiones ya aprobadas de más de 2 millones de € para infraestructuras básicas.
d. Desarrollo del empleo en la zona a través de una economía social de cooperativas que “explote” el Parque y reinvierta los beneficios en el mismo.
e. Expectativas de poder lograr la autosuficiencia económica del Parque (existen ideas y proyectos en estudio).
6. De orden político:
a. En el PGOU de 2006 se plantea como principio general para la movilidad urbana favorecer al peatón, la bici y el transporte colectivo frente al transporte individualizado
b. En el PGOU 2006 también se proyectan las vías férreas de metro y tranvía: que se avance en esto y se amplíe la línea para poner una estación de metro en el extremo de Avd Ciudad de Chiva. Con el metro y el tranvía, que pueden anticiparse a las miles de viviendas que se prevén, se anima a los futuros vecinos de estos barrios a utilizar el transporte colectivo sin tener que recurrir al transporte individualizado como solución a la movilidad urbana.
c. Supone una mejora muy sustancial (especialmente si se respeta la vocación socioeducativa del Parque que se ha ido conformando a lo largo de estos 13 años) en las condiciones de vida para la zona (Parque Alcosa, Polígono Aeropuerto, Torreblanca y Sevilla Este) muy poblada y con evidentes síntomas de deterioro ambiental y convivencial.
d. Dar satisfacción a una reivindicación activa histórica (13 años) de los vecinos y vecinas, y evitar el conflicto social que se prevé, ya que el grupo humano que se agrupa entorno al recién creado Foro Ciudadano por el Parque Tamarguillo no va a dejar la lucha por la defensa del Parque.
e. Si la apuesta es por la sostenibilidad, el Parque Tamarguillo avalará esta apuesta y, así, los ciudadanos se harán partícipes del proyecto de una Sevilla sostenible que el Gobierno Municipal propone y promete. Si la SE-35 destroza el Parque, el Gobierno perderá el crédito y aparecerá la idea de que existe sumisión a intereses económicos ajenos al bien público.
f. En plena crisis se muestra más razonable y correcto promover obras o actuaciones que no contengan carácter especulativo alguno (como la SE-35) y buscar actuaciones que creando empleo defiendan el bien público.
g. El ahorro inversor de no hacer la SE-35 se puede destinar a desarrollar otros proyectos que pueden resolver los problemas de movilidad, como la vía paralela a la autovía de Málaga, ampliar las líneas de metro, tren, tranvía y autobuses que anima a los ciudadanos a resolver su movilidad sin depender necesariamente del coche particular.
h. Un gobierno progresista debe velar por los intereses generales, ser coherente en el cumplimiento de su programa y no ceder a intereses especulativos que se basan en el urbanismo descontrolado.

Independence Day, 2022 did not go as expected! As I was driving to meet my son & his girlfriend for a holiday fair, he called me & told me to turn around & go home! A fire had broken out in his apartment complex & both entrances were blocked. No one could go out or in due to more than 7 fire trucks & hoses from hydrants. The fire had started on the first floor of a 3-story building up the hill from my son's building. Although fire fighters worked from 1 PM to after 6 PM, the fire did not spread beyond that one building. That building, however, was gutted & 22 residents are now homeless. I'm sure that neither the residents nor the firefighters fresh from the parade will ever forget this 4th of July! They needed to use tall ladders to reach the third floor.
Expect me to make a lot more of these, I quite like it.
