7.5.22 Sculpt update on Falco Sang - Bouthy Hunter/Assassin from the Dark Horse comic series Star Wars: Dark Times.

Been several weeks since I made any progress on this figure. This update centers on the alternate head sculpt.

After looking over the character studies Doug Wheatley did for the story arc, I made a small change to the bridge of the character's nose by adding a dorsal hump to the bridge. I also added the hair and recently detailed the ears more as the initial sculpts looked too simplified and a little large in proportion.

I'm only going to update with the more recent images taken but you can find more of my progression when I upload all the images over the past several weeks on my FLICKR photostream soon...I'll post a link once updated.

Working on some better articulation to the waist and will sculpt the lower legs and feet soon.

More to come! Thanks again for your continued interest in my work!!! It never gets old to inspire and seek inspiration from other great artists in the custom community.

12.30.21 Sculpt update - Dass Jennir and Falco Sang - Star Wars: Dark Times (Dark Horse Comics). 1:18 scale.

Hey guys! Finally received magnets needed for my forearm variants to Jennir. The character is featured in the comic with and without arm wraps, so I'll be creating variant sculpts for each. Having those minor variants will allow me to make the figure more versatile in its appearance. They are glued directly to the plastic frame and will be sculpted over. The magnets are strong enough to have a firm hold to one another but not enough to interfere with the opposite arm or waist magnet. The only downside with using magnets in the interaction with other figures using the same methodology. Forces seem to attract or repel one another when in close range LOL! Small price to pay...

Added some sculpt to the chest. More will be added I'm sure. I also want to reduce the lower abdomen again.

Also working on the maskless head sculpt to Falco Sang. Making some changes to an older cast I had that strikes a resemblance to the character. Reworking the upper body sculpt as well.

So goes another week of sculpting. Probably would have had more to share but it took forever to receive the magnets and I'm so afraid to get working on another project that may take my focus off what I'm wanting to achieve here...also with the holidays and COVID making an appearance in the family, a break was necessary.

More to come! Hoping to ramp things up a bit more in the coming weeks. Hard to believe that only a handful of weeks back this was nothing but an unstable, raggedy figure frame. It's fun to watch the transformation. Hope you enjoyed the update!

11.23 Sculpt update on Jedi Dass Jennir - Dark Times "Out of the Wilderness" arc - Dark Horse Comics. 1:18 scale.

So the feeble frame is beginning to grow some meat on its bones. Great to be working on Star Wars related customs again...some old reflexes coming back.

It's been awhile since I've built some frames to sculpt over. So far, so good! To this point I've built up the feet, both upper legs, left shoulder, lower and upper abdomen. All the articulation remains although it was a challenge to guess the cut through the sculpt of the upper thigh but I got close enough.

Adjustments will be made as I go along. Just need my xacto, dremel and sandpaper at my side. The upper leg sculpt may be reduced off the knee joint for better clearance. I've already made adjustments to the lower abdomen/crotch.

Working on the head sculpt as well. The "Out of the Wilderness" arc has Dass sporting a shorter haricut along with more manageable facial hair. I'm also adding better defined ears becasue several years back, I wasn't all that great at sculpting them! LOL! This version of Dass will have a number of differences to that of it's predecessor. You'll see that come to light as the figure develops.

It feels great to be working on Star Wars related figs for awhile! To my Alien fans, you need to give me a bit of a break while I refreash the batteries! No worries, I have a balance developing now. After I work on Dass for awhile, I'll switch up to another Star Wars related character and an Alien figure. Currenly that is the Newborn.

More to come!

Wedge: Find Chewie? What do you mean, Gener-all, er..I mean Han? Has something happened to Chewbacca?

This is a variant of the Throne Room Duel Luke Skywalker. His black glove is on his left hand. The corrected version has the glove on the right hand.

A Power of the Force 2 AT-ST driver. To the best of my Knowledge, the only actual AT-ST driver figure. (They did make a Han in AT-ST disguise.)

4.3.22 Sculpt update on Spraug, 1:18 scaled figure from the Dark Horse comic series Invasion. Added this guy back to the workbench to give it a little TLC and bring the project up to date, however the current 3 figures I've been working on will get the most of my attention.

Character recap - Spraug is a Vratix criminal on Nar Shaddaa during the Yuuzhan Vong war (Expanded Universe or Disney's Legends)....and that's about it. So suffice to say the character's back story wasn't the fuel that inspired me to sculpt a figure of him.

What inspired me is the design, the species and the challenge to produce a figure that isn't humanoid within the Star Wars universe.

The frame is a combination of two figures...An Original Trilogy Collection Chewbacca (two of them) and a Vintage Collection General Grevious (before the figure became so $$$). When this figure's frame was built, the Vintage Collection value was nominal. Nowhere NEAR the prices you see today. The figures were fodder.

I actually lost one of Spraug's antennae while the figure was shelved so I'm building a new one using a wire armature. This will also be used to sculpt the spindly fingers of the insectoid.

Really love sculpting the body's segmentation. The thick lower section or (tail) you see will be filed down and replaced with segmented detail. It's articulated at its base but will be used primarily for stabilization purposes.

Hope you enjoy the new shots. More updates coming! Thanks for all the comments and support! ❤ #starwars #spraug #darkhorsecomics #aliens #invasion #YuuzhanVong #expandeduniverse #sculpture #customactionfigure #actionfigures #avesclay #miniature

4/23 Sculpt Update - Various projects along with the return of some older custom figures to the workbench.

All 1:18 scale

Sculpt material is Aves FIXIT sculpt.

Been making progress on several figure projects over the past few weeks including the Revwien Pilot, Skorr, Gribbet and Falco Sang.

Mazzic, Embo and K'Kruhk have found their way back to the workbench for some retooling, updated sculpting etc - expect to see updated progress on these three going forward.

Below is the breakdown...

- Revwien pilot from the Dark Horse Comics series Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Sculpt work on the feet and legs.

- Skorr from the Archie Goodwin, Al Williamson comic series, Star Wars: The Bounty Hunter of Ord Mantell. Sculpt work on the arms and cloak for the upper body.

- Gribbet - From the Archie Goodwin, Al Williamson comic series, Star Wars: The Bounty Hunter of Ord Mantell. Sculpt work on the arms.

- Falco Sang - Bouthy Hunter/Assassin from the Dark Horse Comic series Star Wars: Dark Times. Sculpt details for the shoulder holster. May rework this.

- Mazzic, the Myke smuggler from the Dark Horse comic series, Star Wars: The Last Command. Mazzic will be getting a face lift. Similar to Skorr, I sculpted this likeness back in 2010. Time for an upgrade.

- Embo, the Kyuzo bounty hunter from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Loving what I have down with this figure so far...just was to rework some ideas and move forward with this guy.

- Jedi Master K'Kruhk from the Dark Horse Comics series, Star Wars: Dark Times. Like Embo, I enjoy what I have accomplished so far with this figure but the body sculpt needs some updating. Happy with the head sculpt and paint application - no need to change anything on that.

Sorry for the brief explanation for each but if I was to log all my thought for each projects it would be a couple pages and I hardly have anyone ready what I post anyway LOL!

More to come! Thanks again for your continued interest in my work!
