The Milky Way and Jupiter (the thing that looks like a really bright start in the upper right) as seen from the Bold Coast of Maine.
Nikon D850 and Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 lens @ 14mm and f/2.8 for all shots. Sky: Star stacked blend of 10 exposures @ 10 seconds, ISO 8000. Stacked in Starry Landscape Stacker, which is only available on Mac, but Sequator for Windows can do this too. You can do it in Photoshop or other deep space stacking programs, but Starry Landscape Stacker or Sequator make the process of masking out the foreground for proper alignment of the stars much simpler. The result is pinpoint stars with low noise. Foreground: Blend of 2 exposures, 1 @ ISO 6400 for 2 minutes for the texture in the water, another at ISO 1600 for 16 minutes for detail in the cliffs and trees. The 2 minute exposure provided some nice texture in the water that wasnât too smoothed out like the 16 minute exposure. All shots were taken in the same spot on the same night. The sky and foreground exposure where blended using manual masking in Photoshop to create a final image with everything in good focus and fairly low noise from the cliffs to the stars.

It dawned on me when I couldn't upload last nights photos, that my hard disk was full again. I realised everything from last year must go to my external hard disk, so Everything must go , by the manic Street Preachers is perfect. I thought I'd see what those months held, and this beautiful sunset was hiding there. Some nights you just wish would never go, but they always do.

I don't recall when exactly I began to take an interest in the bridges of Yosemite Valley. Still, I have always felt that they would make excellent subjects to capture through photography, provided the lighting conditions were just right. Usually, when my family and I visit Yosemite, we focus on the more popular viewpoints, such as Valley View and Artist's Point. However, on our most recent trip, I had some free time during mid-day, which I spent photographing some of the gorgeous bridges within the park.
Fortunately, the low water levels of the Merced River meant that I had a lot of luck with it acting as a reflection pool in many locations. One spot where the reflections worked exceptionally well with the fall colors was the Pohono Bridge. My main challenge was timing my shots to avoid getting cars in the frame, as this is a busy part of the loop road. In terms of composition, my main goal was to minimize the amount of sky in the shots since the timing meant that the sky would be overexposed mainly due to the wide dynamic range of the scene.
Everything was quiet! But the quiet was quite audible. The scores of invisible wind were striking like a chorus with fir needles leading to a wonderful melody that indeed banished my weariness and sense of time. Continuing with this pleasant singularity I couldn’t able to feel that it was too late that night!
The photos that I've erased
I know something is wrong
And then you speak to me
And everything gets easy
Like I get what I wanted
Now I'm just haunted by you constantly
Thanks to everybody at the Celbridge Camera Club and Tallaght Photo Society in Ireland for there hospitality over the last few days. I really enjoyed my time out there, I hope you enjoyed my talks.
Big thanks to Cat www.flickr.com/photos/catmacbride/ and Scott www.flickr.com/photos/scottmacbride/ for everything. You guys rock !
You too Lola, hi to the kids ;)
I spotted this as a possible shot while flying into Dublin airport. I didn’t realise it was quite so far from town. Thanks again to Scott for driving me out there to get this, especially after cooking such a fantastic dinner.
One of the most interesting subway stations of Hamburg captured with my Sony Xperia XZ on my trip last week :)
Taken at the beginning of February 2015. As you can see it was a sledging evening by moonlight. I turned up with my son and soon realised I should have brought my camera. Half a hour later I was back - 6 portrait shots at f/16 and roughly 77s each - not to mention cold hands. It was a little breezy too, so image is not as sharp as I would have liked. When either your ao or Maitreya hud is not off, they will overrule the Bento pose of the hands so they won't go into the right bento pose as was meant in the pose).
A very recent and significant collapse of the rock ledge at Pulpit Rock, Portland Bill in Dorset is a reminder of how the Jurassic Coast is constantly changing, be it through natural processes or man-made intervention. Amazing to think that all those shots ever taken here can never now be replicated.
CN 562 is back on CN Rails after interchanging with CP at Feeder. Taken on a beautiful April afternoon. Shorts made their season debut on this day!
Now long abandoned, the Hawkscraig pier was erected in 1866 for paddle-steamers carrying day-trippers across the Forth from Edinburgh.
When the railway came to Aberdour in the 1890s via the Forth Rail Bridge, the demand for the service declined and the demise of the pier shortly followed.
The Forth Rail Bridge is just visible in the top right of the photo.

Metal KPRK radio rotunda, iconic Livingston symbol removed
Dan Astin Enterprise Staff Writer Dec 1, 2023
The faux stylized radio tower spire, an iconic symbol of KPRK radio and Livingston, was removed on Thursday, as part an ongoing construction project, restoring the derelict broadcasting building and grounds to their formal glory.
In reference to the rotunda's temporary removal during restoration, Andrew Feltenstein, owner of Moleo Media Group, a limited liability company, which is the site's property owner, said "We can't save everything, but we will be putting the rotunda back up."
Juston Gougeon, founder and vice president of operations for Basecamp Construction, the contractor responsible for the restoration, inferred rehabbing the radio station, which has been abandoned for over a decade, will have different challenges, in order to preserve the station's unique exterior architecture.
As part of preserving the building as a public business for the future, steel beams and hydraulics will need to lift the entire structure above the Yellowstone River flood-plane.
The nearly 80 year old structure will have to be brought up to Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility specifications, with all components of the building's infrastructure modernized, without altering the exterior.
An outdoor amphitheater for music events is a planned edition to the rear of the property.
The contractor explained finishing the restoration project, which will be assisted in-part through historic preservation tax credits, will be worth it in the end.
"There's going to be a lot of money invested in Livingston in the next 10 years. Andrew's passion for this project is contagious and Basecamp Construction is excited to be a part of the restoration of one of Livingston's most iconic buildings," said Gougeon.
