What is up with this town. I come by in the car and it's rain and it's raining again. I am not letting me down. I am going to keep my head up high and bare it.

Every day a beautiful star
Shines on me from afar
Across the skies and the lake
In my dreams, love we make
She does glow in my eye
Into my thoughts, love does fly
Where it will never , ever part
Like the beautiful star, that fills my heart
Every year for Christmas, our tour operator for South Africa trips sends these lovely handmade bead figurines to their customers. I already own an elephant, a rhino and a zebra. Yesterday this cute buffalo arrived.

when quality mattered...every dial, every gauge, every switch, every flange, every bracket, every screw, without exception, it all mattered, nothing less than perfection!
Claude M. Cox's original Overland car was developed in the early 1900s by the Standard Wheel Company of Terre Haut, Indiana. The Overland Company was formed in 1903 by Mr. Cox and Charles Minshall but it didn't take off until John North Willys arrived in 1907. Mr. Willys was a New York auto dealer and a major Overland customer. He ordered 500 Overlands and paid a deposit of $10,000. After his product was not delivered, he traveled to Indiana only to find Overland on the point of closure. Wanting to recoup his investment, Willys secured additional credit and reorganized the company. By mid-1908 they were in a position to build a new factory. Production increased and by 1909 the company had moved to Toledo, Ohio. Willys eventually became president of the company.
From 1910 to 1914, the company produced only four-cylinder models and they were all right-hand drive. (The company began using left-hand drive in 1915). In 1914, Overland was the second-largest producer of cars in the US, behind only Ford. While the Model T appealed to the masses, the Overland was an upmarket model selling for approximately twice the cost of a T. The Overland was more spacious, more powerful, and larger than the FOrd and its four-cylinder engine had separately cast cylinder jugs. An electric starter was available as a $125 option in 1914.
Overland built a quality automobile that was advanced for its time. The early models had a removable ignition plug that prevents auto theft.
During the 1920s, Willys-Overland produced the Willys Knight, which was powered by the sleeve valve engine designed by Indiana native Charles Knight. During World War II, Willys produced the Jeep. Several modern Jeep models pay homage to their Overland roots with the name of their top models wearing the 'Overland' nameplate.

Every evening thousands of bats fly out of Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico's main entrance at or near sunset. One of those amazing wildlife experiences. They continue to exit the cavern for 1 to 2 hours.

8 Killer King Penguin Facts
King Penguins are the 2nd largest species of penguin.
A King Penguin’s birth through maturity takes an unusually long time compared with the rest of the Penguin world - between 14 and 16 months. Other Penguins are laid, hatch, and head off to the sea usually within a summer season.
This difference in the King Penguin’s cycle is thought to be due to their large size – the extended length of time means there will be plenty of fish in the water when the newborns finally head into the sea to start hunting on their own, as opposed to other species heading off to the waters during scarcer hunting seasons.
The King Penguin is on the emblem of the Edinburgh Zoo of Scotland.
Some early explorers thought that King Penguin chicks were a separate species of Penguin because they look so different – brown and fuzzy.
Unlike most other Penguin species, King Penguin colonies have inhabitants the entire year round thanks to the length of their maturity cycle.
King Penguins don’t make nests of any kind. They carry their egg around with them at all times on top of their feet.
Once a young King Penguin does leave its colony it will not return until at least 3 years later when it’s able to mate.
Every year the cherry blossoms in High Park, Toronto, draw tens of thousands of visitors. The trees themselves were a gift from Japan in 1959. A gift that keeps on giving.
Every time I visit Hong Kong harbour, I get overwhelmed by the skyline. Since we were a bit late I wasn't able to photograph it in the blue hour. But this "Gotham city"- approach is also worth watching.
Enjoy!

“Every morning was a cheerful invitation to make my life of equal simplicity, and I may say innocence, with Nature herself.” - Henry D.J. Walden
This is how I feel when I look out my window towards my garden every morning. The plant is another beautiful spring wildflower in my garden called the Celandine Poppy. I love it's cheery yellow bloom but sometimes keeping it simple and looking more closely at just the light it captures and the textures of the plant gives me a more calming feeling. Happy Monochrome Monday!

In every man's life we had each our own strife and numerous difficulties. The history of the world is like a magic lantern that displays to us, in light pictures upon the dark ground of the present, how benefactors of mankind, the martyrs of genius, wandered along the thorny road of honor.
On mighty wings the spirit of history floats through the ages, and shows -- giving courage and comfort, and awakening gentle thoughts -- on the dark nightly background, but in gleaming pictures, the thorny path of honor, which does not, like a fairy tale, end in brilliancy and joy here on earth, but stretches out beyond all time, even into eternity!

Every man has his secret sorrows which the world knows not; and often times we call a man cold when he is only sad.” There is no greater sorrow than to recall happiness in times of misery.” To be wronged is nothing unless you continue to remember it.” Those who do not weep, do not see.”

The little man stands up for the future…
I live in the United States of America, and, while I’d never tell anyone who to vote for, I find the pivotal moment before us too important to sit quietly on the sidelines. No matter where you live, I hope you have the ability to stand up for what you believe in, to use your voice, to use your power for good, and, right now in my country, to get out and vote.
I believe in working together to build a world founded on kindness, compassion, connection and community. I believe character matters. I believe we should lift one another up and treat each other with dignity by showing respect even if we disagree. I believe everyone has the right to make decisions about what happens to their body, and everyone has the right to choose who they love. I believe in a world where everyone can pursue their dreams and where we help one another to achieve them, a world where we bring people together through understanding. I believe in freedom, and the best way to be more free is to grant more freedom to others.
If, like me, you have this important right, the right to vote,
please do, and stand up for your future.
...that every day is the best day in the year.

Every autumn, Bewick’s Swans face a dangerous migration to the UK from northern Russia. Along their 3,500km route between the breeding and wintering sites there are predators, fewer wetlands and the risk of hitting power lines, but if they don’t migrate, they will be caught in the ice and snow of the arctic winter. In spring, they do it all again as they fly back to Russia.
This ringed Bewick's Swan was seen at the Slimbridge Wetlands Centre in Gloucestershire today. It will stay here for the winter.

Photo taken in Liverpool Street Railway station, London
Opened in 1874 as a replacement for Bishopsgate station, London Liverpool Street station was designed to integrate with the growing London Underground network. As Britain’s busiest station, it serves around 80 million passengers every year, providing the starting point for journeys to Cambridgeshire, Essex, Greater London, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
One of four railway stations on the British version of Monopoly, Liverpool Street is a stone’s throw away from iconic London attractions like Exchange Square, Old Spitalfields Market, Sky Garden, Brick Lane and the Tower of London. In addition, the station itself has two memorials to the Kindertransport rescue mission and is home to the Great Eastern Railway war memorial.

If you live in a rural area and walk your dogs in the Fall and early Winter, you undoubtedly have had a run-in with these beautiful but maddeningly clingy Burdock burrs! They're beautiful pink thistle-like flowers in the Spring and Summer, and then morph into this seed head that sticks to everything.
How perfect that Burdock burrs were the inspiration for Velcro! :)
