The oak tree at the corner of the fields. Well after sundown but the sky stayed light this evening. It was very still and sound carried from all directions, trains and planes passed, the harvest was still being gathered a little way off, and there was some birdsong and plenty of noise from the pheasants

A fortuitous break in the clouds reveals a fleeting moment of golden evening light as BNSF HKCKSPO passes through Belknap, Montana, on October 1, 2014. Three leased Montana Rail Link SD45s (382, 319 and 328, now labeled SD45-2s) power the high-priority manifest freight westbound on MRL’s Fourth Subdivision.
A quiet evening with a fantastic view overlooking the fjord and the landscape around. Sunndal in the middle of Norway.
One good thing about the desert, it does have some amazing sunsets!!

A beautifully glowing sunset over the ‘Atbara River’ (also known as the Red or Black Nile, likely due to its dark, muddy water and roaring current, especially at its highest peak).
This seasonal river rises in northeastern Ethiopia and travels about 800 kilometers to join the Nile at the city of Atbara (my hometown).
I took this photo from a relatively high walkway on a bridge that crosses the river, connecting the north and south banks.

Again one from our days in Shimla.I think I have uploaded a similar photo a long time back but this is for all those friends who have joined me recently.
In Shimla we had a lot of time on our hands as our son had left for college and being outsiders we had very little social life.In the evenings Sanjay would come to my office and then we would take a long walk back home.At the start of the walk we would have coffee at a little cafe and this house was just below the terrace of that cafe.I never saw anyone outside the house but it always looked very pretty and peaceful in the evening light tucked away cosily in the mountainside and I often wished it was ours.:-)

Evening on the Weser, near the Tiefer Arkaden in Bremen. An old man needs a break, and I'm sitting on a bench when the rowers pass by.
Every sunset is its own show in the sky, varying with each day. This scene features two old jetties jutting out into Lake Michigan, the blue water of the vast lake, and then the pink and yellow sky above.

Evening Grosbeak is a species whose population has declined significantly in recent years, so it was a welcome sight to observe this female with that large lime-green bill. This bird was seen near feeders at a private residence in Princeton, British Columbia, Canada.
