Though less dramatic in colouring than the males, the females have a very interesting appearance, and in the snow and dim light, almost made better options for photography.
It's hard to pull myself away from this spot, but the good company below soon had me happy that I did.

Between our November 2015 visit and our return three years later, some changes were made near Merroir, the Rappahannock Oyster Company restaurant (or "tasting room"), on the Rappahannock River at Locklies Creek, adjacent to Locklies Marina -- e.g., removal of pilings for old piers and marina slips, construction of some new slips beside the oyster shucking house and pier opposite Merroir. This day's high temperature was in the low 60s, wind was very light, and there were some interesting clouds -- all in all, a very nice late November afternoon. This was taken about 10 minutes before sunset (the sun went down behind me), which wasn't very colorful..

Last light of the day hits the glacier in the Rainbow Basin as the sun is about to drop below the mountains to the west. It's hard to describe how peaceful everything was this day. It was so quiet as I sat alone in front of my tent watching time pass. Occasionally I'd hear a crack from the ice or a rock tumble down a slope. Without those sounds I would never have had the sense that time was passing.
East Lancashire Railway. With a full head of steam 34092 "City of Wells" waits at Ramsbottom station while the diners tuck in to their meal.
A large gate on the left hand platform has been painstakingly removed.

Evening mood over Lake Thun. The clouds were only briefly illuminated by the setting sun and glowed in pink colours. I had just enough time to take this pano and it was already over again. Although, afterwards a young ibex came by and also enjoyed the view...
