93:121 Something that makes you happy.
Seeing a rare bird makes me happy. Having a large group of rare birds camp out in the woods behind my house and eat at my feeders every day for nearly a month makes me wildly happy. This is an Evening Grosbeak, and it rarely comes as far south as Georgia. They are once in a lifetime bird for most birders. A large group of these birds have been at my feeder every day since January 23. They like me, I guess, and I love them.

Tons of birds flock together in our trees to bed down every night. I just thought this was beautiful, right in my own backyard.
Gorgeous summer evening, sun declining, the church spire, viewed from a bridge over the Union Canal, catching the last hour of sunlight, the light now stretched out into a beautiful, warm copper colour that looks so nice on the old stonework.
Fortunately a flock of these Evening Grosbeaks has made our feeders a daily stopover since the end of November ...I've recently been slowly getting them used to my presence , previously I had been shooting them through our bedroom window, They don't flush now as quickly as they did before so I'm finally able to get some decent photos of them, males and females...For those that aren't familiar with them this is the male, illustrating the more brilliant colour and also in fact wears its "crown" above the eye extending towards the rear of its head!!! They get their name from the obviously large beaks. There are about five species of "Grosbeaks" , all of them are seed eating and are quite commonly seen across northern Canadian Boreal forests from British Colombia to Newfoundland. These particular Evening Grosbeaks were seen and photographed in St John's Newfoundland!!
