Evening sun burnishes the YD loco as it makes its way back to Bago with a special train. One can only guess what’s going on at present in this country with its beautiful people and just hope for a speedy conclusion to the troubles with a minimum of suffering for everybody.

View of St Pauls cathedral from Bankside. The area is always popular with tourists and on this evening it was crowded.

Mornings and evenings, I often walk the trails of Pacific Spirit Park near my home. On this occasion, the air still hazy with the smoke of hundreds of forest fires burning across the Province, the evening sun briefly lit up this stump with a fire of its own. I liked the play of colours and lighting, with pale hazy blue in the distance, cool greens in the middle, and dark browns punctuated with bright orange in the foreground.
Evening Light
East Cote Lighthouse
Anyone that knows the seaside village of Silloth on the Cumbrian coastline will know this lighthouse. It is a famous old lighthouse that stands guard looking out towards Criffel over on the Scottish side of the Solway Firth.

Délután
Délutáni kép, fotós emlék
Készítettem tanulmányként
Szépek a színek, jó az árnyék
A fény múlik, égbolt szürkül,
Hamarosan bekapcsolnak a parki lámpák,
S majd világit az éji fény.
Beams of early evening light on Eastern Sierra aspen groves.
As I photographed here in the late afternoon I was keeping an eye on the sun as it descended toward clouds and the Sierra crest to the west. These trees are beautifully back-lit by late afternoon sun, but it looked like that light source might disappear early behind the clouds. But as it turned out, the partially blocked light created an unusual and dramatic effect as beams of light highlighted trees against the darker background.
I think that we like to flatter ourselves about our ability to find and take advantage of subjects and great light. We sure put a lot of effort into searching out visually interesting locations than then being there when the light is likely to be ideal. But in the end we are, to a great extent, at the mercy of conditions. Sometimes that is a problem, but on evenings like this one the light gods send us a gift.

A crisp Fall evening in Saginaw finds Huron & Eastern's 740 job heading south into Genesee Yard behind Central Michigan #2014. #2014 is a former Devco Mining unit and was the CMGN's one and only GP38-2. It is also one of only two CMGN units still rostered by the HESR as of 2025.
Evening Sun
No… not more sunsets. This wee series is about sunflowers – all from a packet labelled “Evening Sun”.
This one is the deepest and reddest of the bunch.

I'm tired this evening, so catching up will be slow . . .
Walking the evening air, impressions they shared
Her heart raced as they paced, not going anywhere...
