Colorful autumn aspen trees in soft evening light, Eastern Sierra Nevada.
As the sun dropped behind the Sierra crest beyond the range of this photograph, the light was changing quickly and the scene was falling into shadows. I realized that if I worked quickly I might be able to get set up in time to catch the last bit of light on the foreground aspen grove. I might have been humorous to watch me work in (at least according to preconceptions) in a distinctly non-landscape-photographer mode, as quickly as possible extending tripod legs, attaching lens to tripod and camera to lens, locating a composition, figuring out an exposure and exposing some bits as that last light began to fade.
The aspens in this photograph are a good example of a couple of things that characterized this year’s color season. For one, in many places whole groves seemed to achieve good color at almost the same time, different from the more typical and gradual pattern. There was also quite good color late in the season, perhaps due to a lack of big storms, particularly wind storms.

When it's evening, and the lights of the houses start to show one by one, in the residential quarter. And all return home. And soon will be night.
Our holiday apartment was about 10 minutes walk from the harbour of Fiskardo. A great place to spend the evening at one of the waterside tavernas, watching the boats come and go.

What a beautiful day and evening today.
It was lovely driving home from the outdoor concert with my new choir tonight - passing a calm and idyllic channel and lovely nature surrounded in the light of the evening sun. I would have loved to be out walking with the camera instead ツ
But I went out on a walk with my dog when I got home, and captured this one right outside our house before the sun set behind the forest - bright red. Should have watched it by the sea tonight, but will do so the next time I hope..
By the way I love these beautiful trees outside the house we moved to one week ago. I guess they will turn really colourful when autumn arrives.
Early evening by the Union Canal, nice reflections as the sun declines, some people strolling home, others enjoying a run by the waterside
Such a colourful bird. I always think this is a tropical bird that somehow decided to call the north it's home.

"Evening Salutations:" This sunset image was taken on the 4th of July as I was waiting atop the Granite Dells near Watson Lake to see the fireworks show. It felt like I was watching nature's own version of pyrotechnics as a preview to the man-made display later.
I had an appointment in the middle of the day today, and afterwards I figured I'd swing by one of my favourite bird watching spots guessing I'd be met with disappointment.
Boy, was I wrong! Not only were the birds out and about, the evening grosbeak's were everywhere and not playing shy at all!
I don't believe I've seen an evening grosbeak in person before so this was just a delight!
Hope everyone has had a good day.
