Pigeon Point is home to large numbers of pelicans year round. It really should be called Pelican Point. As the sun set, the sky began to glow, but that alone is not enough to make a good photograph. I noticed that the water had become calm and the light enhanced the color of the water.
I decided to use a long exposure to define and accentuate the rocks in the foreground. This reduced the distracting motion of the waves while the glow was retained. There are other times, however, when showing the motion of the water is the better choice. Experimentation is often necessary to determine the best way to go.

More passenger action, that could have been posted on MLW Monday but there would have been protests! I know, you either love 'em or hate 'em, and nothing beats an FPA4 leading a passenger train, but fresh out of the box LRC trains at least looked cool and well, different. Here's the 6920 and four matching cars holding down the run for train 46 at Brockville on the summery evening
of 11 June 1983.
One of the best things about the clocks going back for daylight saving is being able to go for a walk on the beach after dinner.

A gorgeous blue-sky evening on top of The Skirrid, on the eastern edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales.

We finished off our Christmas lunch after having had a well earned afternoon nap.
Cheese and crackers followed by a small amount of Christmas pudding and a mini mince pie, served with cream, of course.
Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.
The Amish don't let nightfall deter them from moving about. Here a buggy travels down a road in the sunset's afterglow.
A YN2 AC44 leads CN train U703 westbound over the Belvidere Road overpass on the north side of Genoa, IL. This train is heading to one of almost a dozen ethanol plants CN serves in Iowa that loads unit trains. Business has grown on the former Chicago Central in the past few years and it's great to see the additional traffic running on the line.
Fortunately a flock of these Evening Grosbeaks has made our feeders a daily stopover since the end of November ...I've recently been slowly getting them used to my presence , previously I had been shooting them through our bedroom window, They don't flush now as quickly as they did before so I'm finally able to get some decent photos of them, males and females...For those that aren't familiar with them this is the male, illustrating the more brilliant colour and also in fact wears its "crown" above the eye extending towards the rear of its head!!! They get their name from the obviously large beaks. There are about five species of "Grosbeaks" , all of them are seed eating and are quite commonly seen across northern Canadian Boreal forests from British Colombia to Newfoundland. These particular Evening Grosbeaks were seen and photographed in St John's Newfoundland!!
