93:121 Something that makes you happy.
Seeing a rare bird makes me happy. Having a large group of rare birds camp out in the woods behind my house and eat at my feeders every day for nearly a month makes me wildly happy. This is an Evening Grosbeak, and it rarely comes as far south as Georgia. They are once in a lifetime bird for most birders. A large group of these birds have been at my feeder every day since January 23. They like me, I guess, and I love them.

My wife brought my attention to this field which somebody had seen and I decided to take the advantage of seeing this beautiful gift from God. The accompanying shots were taken over a period of several hours ending as the sun set. I hope you enjoy seeing them as much as I did taking them.

Evening at Inspiration Point, the original "Valley View" - Yosemite National Park, California.
Another photograph from my late-April hike up to Inspiration Point to watch the day end in Yosemite Valley. Inspiration Point is the original "Valley View" that was used before the construction of Wawona, when the road out of the Valley followed a different and steeper route. This beautiful spot is a 1.3 mile hike up from the overrun Wawona Tunnel View location, and a million miles away in terms of atmosphere. At Inspiration Point you may experience this sublime scene in solitude rather than accompanied by traffic noise and exhaust fumes.
Six sailboats used for our city's Youth Sailing program retire for the night in their dry dock berths.

A long exposure evening shot from Whitby, North Yorkshire.
Decided to go a late night walk and took my camera with me as I don't have many night shots from Whitby.
I looked across to St Mary's Church and the 199 Steps because of the lights reflections in the water and just loved how peaceful it looked.
It was a lovely day to visit with friends that lives just out of the city. I always enjoy the hospitality and the wildlife that they provides for.

Nature is random yet ordered in its own way.
The stars are still there even when we can’t see them.
As happens so very often, the sun and the clouds have ideas contrary to ours.
And the trains seldom appear when we want them to.
The Trifecta of Discontent once again.
Yet, the evening was magical, and reserved only for those who showed up for it---
The gentle breezes cooling the hot afternoon to the distant boom of thunder---
Lightning bolts crackling across the sky as storm clouds unleashed their fury upon the land---
A land not quite desert---
Not quite plains---
But New Mexico fully.
The Universe, in all its immense beauty, gave us what it wanted too, forcing us to react with but a few moments notice.
There was an ethereal glow in the clouds and a mechanical rumble on the wind as the train rounded the gentle curve and drifted downgrade, its form in perfect silhouette, the blue of evening but a sliver above the railhead as the big GEs guided their charges eastward, slack bunched in on the drawbar as it headed for the Canadian River and the steel High Bridge that spanned its trickle.
The light had died for the sought-after image, and there was an unwillingness to hurry back out into the brush in an attempt to salvage it. Denim and wool socks are easily penetrated by venom-bearing fangs.
So, there in that moment, on the rain dampened blacktop, we made our stand---
A simple composition that is a few thousand exposures old would have to suffice.
We would harbor no discontent.

This glow don´t need any words! There have been dark clouds and lot of lightnings in the region. But all we got is this bright orange evening sky. Unfortunately the heat didn´t passed away, i really had problem to fall a sleep because of the tropic temperature (Nights with temperature no lower than 20°C degrees Celsius.
'Twas noontide of summer,
And mid-time of night;
And stars, in their orbits,
Shone pale, thro' the light
Of the brighter, cold moon,
'Mid planets her slaves,
Herself in the Heavens,
Her beam on the waves.

I spotted this lone Evening Grosbeak near the public toilets at the Manning Park Lodge site. I have only seen these birds a few times, mostly in the winter when they are in large flocks and out of sight in a conifer tree.
