One cannot pass up this spot on a visit to the Tetons...it's iconic Mount Moran from Oxbow Bend. We could hardly believe that there were only two other photographers out there this particular evening, although it had been raining previously, so I guess most folks called it an evening and went in early. Missed having the reflections, but it's still a beautiful spot to soak in a little nature.
Hope everyone had a great weekend. Still playing catch up and finally getting over a 10 day cold which was no fun in the middle of summer. Have a great week....and as always, thanks for all your visits, faves, and comments!!!
As a kid, my favorite CSX power were always the SD50s. It didn't matter if they were YN2, YN3 or Conrail blue, the big EMDs just looked mean and sounded powerful. On a particularly nice September evening in 2008, I was treated to a pair of YN2 SD50s slogging out of the Thornapple River valley with Toledo-Grand Rapids freight Q335 in tow.

Venus and Jupiter in the last twilight of the day. Seen from Nibutani, Hokkaido, Japan, on 3 July 2015.
The next chance to observe a Venus-Jupiter conjunction will be later this month in the morning sky (science.nasa.gov/solar-system/whats-up-august-2025-skywat...). The closest approach will occur on 12 August 2025 at 06:37 GMT, so the conjunction can be best observed around 11-13 August.

New Brighton lighthouse on the Wirral..Merseyside.
Trying out an ND filter for the first time. Not much movement in the clouds or sea to smooth out, but at least the evening glow was quite beautiful.

Visitors from the boreal forest that are very shy. The presence of predators does not help ...
This was actually taken on a sunny afternoon. Playing around with levels and LUTS color grading to achieve this “evening” shot. Finally, added a layer and painted an oval light and use a blending mode to simulate some night illumination. Very pleased with the results.
I really appreciate your visits and the “likes” !
