This is a beautiful Steel Plate Engraving from History of The United States of America by W. Bartlett continued by Woodward. This was printed in a three volume set and I have volume three. The book is in terrible condition with missing spine, boards separated and the contents in several different pieces. The steel plate engravings are just to beautiful to discard so I am saving and will upload more later. This set in good condition is worth several hundred dollars at a low estimate. I am addicted to old books with wonderful illustrations owning several hundred books myself from the 1800's. These books are really a piece of art when you look thru them. I hope my book friends like this one.
foyer of inner melbourne city pub. i was just walking by and the wall caught my attention. i have to confess i didn't even check the name of the establishment.
Harry George Webb was a painter/ etcher whose dates are always shown as 1882 - 1914 , suggesting a short life, however he set up the Caradoc press in Chiswick in 1899 with his wife hesba and continued after the war. I doubt he got married at 17.
I think you will see his wood engravings and linocuts are far superior to his etchings if you look in the set.
****Please feel free to use this Texture in your Artwork, if you do use it i would love it if you would please post your work in my group here****
