Laser Etching Primer (which I painted a copper board with). Its pretty high resolution and its only a 2.4"x2.4" board.
This is the Makerbot Stepper Controller Board V3. This is a double sided board and should be interesting to see if I can accomplish accurately a way to etch the back side as well.
one of 3 etchings that started of my obsession when bought at a charity shop. Image size 13.75inch x 9.75inch.

Claude Francis Barry (1883 - 1970)
He led a colourful life and there is a really interesting biog at hubpages.com/hub/-The-Artist-Sir-Claude-Francis-Barry. He dropped his first name when middle aged so I guess this is 1930s or there abouts
This was given to me by a friend on Monday. It is very age toned and only just fit on the scanner I am afraid. Camera still broken ;-(.
Sorry I haven't been able to visit everyone of late, I have been a bit tied up, but now I am on holiday I should get time to catch up. ;-)
Weekend project: Etching a laptop.
This one's a MacBook Air (first rev), which has the curious problem of not having a parallel top and bottom surface. That's a problem because the laser expects to engrave a more-or-less flat surface; it has a flat focal plane.
There's a trick, of course. The box that the Air comes in has a plastic cradle that holds the top surface of the computer level-- so use that to hold it while you etch.
Engraving settings: 100% speed, 70% power with the stock lens on an Epilog 45W.
"Fu di statura mediocre, chinata ed esile, di colore bianco che volgeva al pallido, di testa grossa, di fronte quadra e larga, d'occhi cilestri e languidi, di naso proffilato, di lineamenti delicatissimi, di pronunziazione modesta e alquanto fioca, e d'un sorriso ineffabile e quasi celeste".
(Antonio Ranieri, dalla Prefazione alle Opere di Giacomo Leopardi, Le Monnier, 1845)
This is an etching I did in highschool @ NOCCA. It's of the oak tree, house, and street light across the street from my house. It was done on a copper plate, printed on paper about 8"x14".

Original etching
By Paul Chimera
Dali Historian
(Mr. Chimera worked directly with Dali Museum founder Reynolds Morse, as the publicity director of the original Dali Museum when it was located in Beachwood, Ohio.
Perhaps it took a great man like Salvador Dali to “know” great men – or at least artfully depict them in various mediums. Here, in this 1968 original etching, Dali captures a quite fine likeness of U.S. President John F. Kennedy. That’s no easy task, given the challenges and limitations of the medium of etching. Yet Dali pulls it off superbly, thanks to his master draftsmanship, no matter what the medium.
Speaking of other mediums, Dali also did a dramatic and bizarre bust of Kennedy in 1971. The 16-inch-tall sculpture features the head of Kennedy festooned with countless paperclips, perhaps to symbolize the tangled maze of bureaucracy in which all politicians inexorably find themselves.
The Kennedy etching shares four other luminaries as part of Dali’s “Famous Men” graphic series: Albert Einstein, Sigmund Freud, Moshe Dayan, and David Ben-Gurion.
Dali’s presidential focus, as it were, also spanned likenesses of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln, both depicted in Dali prints.
The present, iconic Kennedy etching implies the largeness of the presidential office and the huge impact JFK had on the world by showing Kennedy towering over a landscape and tiny figures. While Salvador Dali was clearly a master painter, he was masterful in print-making, too, and the John Kennedy etching here is an excellent case in point.
