More of the etched glass cupola in the Glasite Meeting House. Like many cupolas, structurally it is two sets of glass; the etched inner glass, and an outer, plain glass just to keep the rain and muck out. The outer structure casts a shadow over the inner one.
Made this for the challenge. Made two copies of the photo and took one into Paint.net for the sketch effect, brought it back into CAP and blended it with one of the other copies, The third copy is the background. I took the photo a few years ago.
Preparing the copper for etching. This is going to be a ring inspired by another one that I made last year for RAD, using this fabric measuring tape.
This one is an 'inny' - the letters are lower than the rest of the surface.
I did this one by rubbing on some letter transfers, painting the whole thing with the resist (stuff that stops the other silver being etched) then carefully scratched away the letters.
I was a bit disappointed that this didn't come out very clean - the acid had eaten away at the resist and given it this rustic look. But it's growing on me!
I expect I should have put the resist on thicker and/or not left it in the acid so long.
