Omdat er in ons land nog altijd geen loongelijkheid bestaat tussen vrouwen en mannen organiseren ABVV en zij-kant jaarlijks Equal Pay Day, de dag voor gelijk loon. Equal Pay Day 2011 legt het verband tussen lonen en pensioenen. Omdat vrouwen doorgaans een lager loon hebben, krijgen ze ook een lager individueel pensioen. Vrouwen zouden in theorie dus veel langer moeten werken om een fatsoenlijk pensioen op te bouwen. Vandaar de slogan: ‘Minder verdienen is langer werken’.
