The Jinsha River (or "River of Golden Sands") is the name of the 2,300-kilometer section of the Yangtze River from Yushu in Qinghai Province to Yibin in Sichuan. Here the river carves a string of grand canyons, home to diverse ethnic minority groups and some of China's most important biodiversity hotspots. The Jinsha River is also at the heart of one of the largest hydropower development areas in the world. Planned hydropower output in this area is equal to about ten times the power produced by the Three Gorges Dam alone. In October 2012, International Rivers went to investigate the current status of dam building on the Lancang River and a section of the Jinsha River. Two dams at Qizhong and Tuoding have been proposed to replace the controversial Tiger Leaping Gorge Dam. Geological surveys have begun at these two sites.

With so many postings of female Cardinals, I felt it was time for this handsome fellow to enjoy some of the limelight.
Equal in an Unequal World
The Global Ethics Forum 2013 - Public Forum 'Equal in an Unequal World' took place on Thursday 27 June 2013 from 14:30 to 18:00 in the Main Hall of the Ecumenical Centre, 150 route de Ferney, CH-1218 Geneva/Switzerland. The Public Forum was organised in the context of the Global Ethics Forum 2013 working sessions on 27 and 28 June.
The 2013 meetings built on the success of the first (2009), second (2011) and third (2012) Global Ethics Fora and played a key role in the preparations for the Global Ethics Forum 2014 Conference in Bangalore/India. We are thankful to Infosys for their sponsorship and support for the Global Ethics Forum 2013. The 2013 meetings were smaller in size and organised around the Public Forum on the first afternoon and closed working sessions for invited participants only. The working sessions provided an opportunity for the Global Ethics Forum Workgroup moderators and key members to meet face-to-face to discuss their progress, present deliverables (articles, guides, tools) and together with directors of the Globethics.net Regional Programmes and contacts to plan the participation and roles of each respective Workgroup and programme at the Global Ethics Forum 2014.
Global Ethics Forum (GEF) Is a global ethics network of experts, institutions and individuals from all walks of life interested in applied ethics. It offers with its Global Ethics Forum an innovative global platform for reflection, dialogue and action.
The art community in Second Life is a varied one. Fine art, outsider art, underground art, performance art and music are all mixed in with the technical aspects of programming and scripting.
Second Life is one of the first places to combine right and left brain thinkers into one fantastic execution of art and builds in a virtual reality.
The sophistication of the artist is apparent at several places on the SL grid. There are many places that rival my favorites, but these are my personal choices based on my reaction or how long it stayed with me.
The Apollo sim will always be my very favorite place, but here are two that just captured my head and heart. La Reve and pteron are included on my "to die for" list and of course, The A List!
Both are fantastic. Both are fabulously done with a flair that most of us who build, will never achieve. I also included a few stand-outs from Esperance, Nebulous's ArtHole installation, and also, the conceptual Muzik Haus.
Muzik Haus is included, not because of the build itself. That part is simple, but the concept itself is one that stays with me. Mr Widget is the dj and his party making mash-ups create a total ambiance that drives the performance itself.
He is my current favorite dj. He is a mash-up king. And he shares his knowledge with us so generously.
All these places and all these people... standing before you and your art, sometimes overwhelms me to a point of tears. The emotional connection I feel when I explore or listen is the reason why I believe that art equals life. For without art... life is a dreary place and that is no life for anyone.
During the Jazz Age:
As Juliette landed roles in ballets as a result of her work with Alexandrina, she had the opportunity to increase her ability at her craft. Yet, something happened that unsettled Juliette: the combination of her family's interest in the current events, Alexandrina's fascination with history, and the plots of the works in which she was cast caused Juliette's mind to become unsettled by a worrisome question:
"I wonder why so many people are mean and don't want to treat others as equal but as inferior? There are so many cases of people, including children, working in terrible conditions in factories; and back home, women only got the right to vote about 5 years ago."
"And those situations are just the tip of the iceberg! No wonder people need stories like "Cinderella" where the person who has been treated badly can prosper. Yet, I wonder when things will change in reality."
"I hope--I pray--that things will change..."
"We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal."
When I hear politicians talk, this is what I contrast everything they 'say' against; This man's feet. He is American too. More importantly, sentient.

National Dried Milk
National Dried Milk was a powdered milk. It was full-cream milk that was roller-dried to a powder, then fortified with vitamin D.. It was intended for feeding to children at a time of milk rationing. It was also convenient for mothers. It freed them up from breast-feeding at a time when women had to go man the factories for the war effort. Each tin of household milk was said to equal four pints of liquid milk when water was added

Whilst walking in the bush at Mount Mee, I kept reminding Mr 5 year old and little Miss 3 - both going onto 20 and who seem "to know" all, not to touch the leaves.
Some leaves had very sharp points and others looked like they leave horrid prickles etc and other leaves had things living under them!
When I saw this red spider living under one of the leaves - small child height - on a plant on the path, I took the opportunity to stop the kids and show them why I've been raving on about not touching the leaves.
Needless to say, after seeing this gal I never once had to remind them not to touch the leaves. :D
Nothing like a good visual to back up the verbal!

I think I've identified this spider - it's from the Nicodamidae family and again, if I'm right - this is the female.
