WATER SAFETY NIGHT - Tulsa Drillers
Tulsa Drillers fans were encouraged throughout the game to stop by the US Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District, Water Safety Program tables and displays to learn how to stay safe on the waters this summer.
Game night promotions: Bedlam Rivalry Night -- The first 1,000 fans will received their choice of a crimson University of Oklahoma-themed or orange Oklahoma State-themed T-shirt, which were imprinted with the Tulsa District Water Safety Program logo. Former OU and OSU athletes who signed the T-shirts. Lt. Col. Daniel R. Young, Tulsa District Deputy Commander, also through out the game’s honorary “first pitch”.

Lt. Gen. Thomas Bostick, Chief of Engineer and Commanding General US Army Corps of Engineers was the guest speaker at the annual Engineer Dinner March 28 at Eisenhower Hall. The dinner welcomes 127 senior cadets entering the Army Engineer Regiment.

Solar engineer making a solar cooker. The cooker is designed by the barefoot engineers of Barefoot College, Tilonia, Ajmer, Rajasthan, India. A mechanism built from used bi-cycle parts turns the mirrors, making sure they face the sun at the best angle all day.

Europe District paid tribute to Kurt Glockengiesser for his distinguished service as an electrical engineer in the Engineering and Construction Division during an award ceremony July 31 at the Amelia Earhart Center in Wiesbaden, Germany. Lt. Col. Charles Hemphill, deputy commander, presented him with a Certificate of Retirement and the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service. Glockengiesser’s wife, Gina, also attended and the couple received gifts from district colleagues. The German local national employee first joined then-Europe Division in 1977, working for seven years at the Frankfurt headquarters. He went into private business but rejoined U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Europe District in April 2002. He provided exceptional advice and support to field offices while directly contributing to the quality of facilities constructed by the district with his technical expertise and professionalism, according to the award citation.
