September 20, 2024 - The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad is a National Historic Landmark. We will be riding it from Silverton to Durango, Colorado.

Since I was a teenager it has been on my bucket list to ride this train. I was disappointed however that we were booked on the excursion being pulled by a diesel locomotive and not a steam engine.

"The line was constructed to haul silver & gold ore from Southwest Colorado’s San Juan Mountains, but passengers soon realized it was the view that was truly precious.

This historic train has been in continuous operation between Durango and Silverton since 1882, carrying passengers behind historic steam and diesel locomotives and rolling stock indigenous to the line. It is a family-friendly ride sure to create memories that will last a lifetime while offering a view of Colorado’s mountain splendor inaccessible by highway. Relive the sights and sounds of yesteryear for a spectacular journey on board the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad." Previous text: www.durangotrain.com

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, North Atlantic Division welcomed New York Giants players Tomon Fox and Ihmir Smith-Marsette to U.S. Army Garrison Fort Hamilton on Nov. 19.

The players interacted with Service members, and Department of the Army civilians during a meet-and-greet event at the Fort Hamilton Community Club. Afterward, they received a tour of the Harbor Defense Museum and attended a Military Entrance Processing Station swearing-in ceremony held on Engeldrum Bluff, which overlooks the Narrows and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.

The close coordination among the Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Hamilton Garrison workforce, Wounded Warrior Project, and the New York Giants supports the morale and welfare of Service members stationed at the garrison and in the New York City metropolitan area.

Looking downstream from the quarterboat; the pile tips showing are usually four to six feet above to water. A mass of slush ice is jammed against the first dike. Brownville NE is just around the point of the bluffs on the right bank. The entire area in the foreground, to beyond the right edge of picture will become dry land at about the level of the water here.

Pile foundation design gives your house a strong foundation via the means of several piles under the foundation.
