After the lamentable incident that took place the other day the resulted in the senseless loss of innocent lives here in Manila, the whole Filipino community is left shocked and dismayed and feeling empty. The whole world is treating them as if they were the one who caused this unfortunate event. I hope that in time, healing will take place and the world will realize that this is a singular act of a singular person compounded by the mismanaged response of the government and law enforcers. It is truly sad and un-excusable but it is not a representation of what the Philippines truly is.

Seriously, someone told us we were lucky the train was empty. Usually there are people riding on top. Ahem.

Closing down sale as the lease ends, the supermarket and chemist and cafes underneath this one had already cleared out. To be replaced by a funny looking new university library called Avoin ("open").

Cherry Hill Market is a Russian 24/7 food store located in Bensonhurst at 23rd ave and 86th st (Brooklyn, NY). No need to go to Brighton Beach anymore (for food or/and culture shock), anything you need is right here, excellent variety and quality as well.

The ceiling is decorated with the empty baskets but don't worry, they won't fall down on you.

Starting in October 2012, the second ARM Mobile Facility (AMF2) was deployed on the Horizon Lines cargo ship Spirit for the year-long Marine ARM GPCI1 Investigation of Clouds (MAGIC) campaign, traveling between Los Angeles, California, and Honolulu, Hawaii. The purpose of the deployment was to understand and parameterize clouds, precipitation, aerosols and radiation, and the interactions among them.

Empty Sky is the official New Jersey September 11 memorial to the state's victims of the September 11 attacks on the United States. It is located in Liberty State Park in Jersey City at the mouth of Hudson River across from the World Trade Center site. Designed by Jessica Jamroz and Frederic Schwartz, it was dedicated on Saturday, September 10, 2011, a day before the tenth anniversary of the attacks.

The design was chosen by unanimous vote of the Families and Survivors Memorial Committee, out of 320 qualified entries in the international design competition. The memorial is dedicated to New Jersey's "746 innocent loved ones who were violently and senselessly murdered that day at the World Trade Center as well as in 1993, the Pentagon and in Shanksville, PA. The New Jersey 9/11 Memorial Foundation has stated that the goal of this memorial is to "reflect the legacies of those whose lives were lost, that their unfulfilled dreams and hopes may result in a better future for society. Their unique qualities and characteristics enriched our lives immeasurably and through this memorial, their stories live on.

The memorial includes twin walls, transecting a "gently sloped mound anchored by a granite path that is directed toward Ground Zero. Two 30-foot-high rectangular towers stretch 208 feet, 10 inches long — the exact width of the World Trade Center towers, the proportion of the walls a symbolic representation of the buildings as if they were lying on their sides. The name of each of the 746 victims is etched in stainless steel in 4-inch-high letters. A granite passage is oriented to face the site of the twin towers. The name of the memorial is taken from the Bruce Springsteen song "Empty Sky", which is about the "empty sky" where the towers once stood.

"Don't take a picture of it, it's empty !"

That was the occult talk the can's owner adressed me as I was taking this picture.

It is sort of Painterly, but it is a photo that I worked on. It was in a Camera Store on Madison Avenue in Corvallis, Oregon. I swear, I think half of Madison Avenue was reflected in the window, including me and some cars. (4617emptychairincamerastoretualotRIT)

Empty Bench, Tiengemeten.

Tiengemeten is an island in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Korendijk, and lies about 11 km south of Spijkenisse.

On 10 May 2007, the island was officially given back to nature; its farming inhabitants were relocated and nature has been allowed to work its way undisturbed. New nature reserves are rare in the Netherlands, and since its return to nature, Tiengemeten has become a real wilderness with trackless terrain, flowing creeks and gullies, meadows full of flowers and huge populations of migrating birds, including ospreys and egrets. Some of the marshy pastures are grazed by Highland cattle and other hardy animals. The island has cycle paths and tracks, and also a large earthwork which serves well as an elevated outlook post for birdspotters. Tiengemeten is free of cars and accessible only by water via a small pedestrian- and bike-friendly ferry which runs regularly on the ten-minute crossing between the small port at Nieuwendijk and the island. Alternatively, bikes can be hired on the island, particularly during the summer months. There is ample free car parking at the ferry terminal. Once on the island, Margerita Farm is a short walk from where passengers alight from the ferry, and holds an information centre, gallery space, café and toilets. Walking tours are available, and volunteers are on hand to answer questions. There are regular special nature-related events on the island; biodiversity surveys, open days and special tours. Notices are posted in local press and on websites.

In the office opposite the one I work in, in the other side of the building, it has been emptied out. On the Friday night before the clocks went back in October, I took some pictures of the empty office during the early evening sun. This is one of my favourites capturing the sunlight, the city ouside, the colours and the reflection on the abandoned desk.
