In Defiance's newsroom. This was empty for the whole time we were there. I meant to get her some candy, but the early mornings drove it out of my mind every day.
Yom Kippur is the one day out of the year where no one drives. Only a few police cars and ambulances were about. Kids play in the streets and ride bikes on the highways.
Everyone knows empty chairs make the best photos!!
I gotta say the French, and in particular the Parisians, just know how to do things right. At the Tuilerie Gardens there are two large circular fountains, and these chairs are placed all the way round. There seems to be lots of them, so I'm assuming nobody is robbing them. In Dublin they'd be gone within the space of a few hours, I'm sure of it!!
I'm still enjoying going through all the scanned negatives and finding shots I'd forgotten about.

After hearing the reports of what it was like up in Oceanside today, I guess I'm even more stoked that I decided to ride the bike on down to Ponto and shoot solo.
On Princes' Islands, located offshore south of İstanbul normal cars are prohibited (except for ambulance, police, fire brigade) - that's why those streets are spookily empty. This photo was taken on the Island of Heybeliada.

Empty for now but most likely the bees will repair and reuse this comb for honey storage next spring.

I liked the sun coming through the window into the grey classroom of mismatched chairs. Some of them are stools, which aren't great for sitting on 2+ hours. :) But at least we didn't have to use drawing horses.
