This is the most empty place on my property: the rafters of the garage. Also probably the most dusty. I should've worn a gas mask.

POM Wonderful sent me some samples of their pomegranate juice to review. Here's what my children left me with - nothing but empties.
Assignment: PCA129 – Vacant (or Empty) Spaces
Oct 31 - Nov 14, 2010
Image Tag: pca129
From: The Tamed Shrew (Kate)
Mission:
To compose a picture with Vacant (or Empty) Spaces as the subject.
This could be architectural, landscapes, still life or even a candid or portrait conveying that vacant space feeling.
I really don’t want to see just darkness, it has to be an empty space with its own identity.

Well, I found this one harder than I anticipated when I set it! lol
However, I tried to get something conveying the empty space feeling in an arty way. :) I was happy with the way this one ended up, so here it is.
It's a blend of a parchment background and a simple view of an empty chair beside a bed. I hope there are enough empty spaces within empty space to fulfill the brief. :)
I desaturated the background picture (the parchment) which was quite a strong orange(y) colour. The chair picture was converted to b&w then grain was added to it before blending in PSE5.

This used to be the Gas Showroom when that was a publicly owned utility. It has been a restaurant but has stood empty for some while now.

Just back from a short trip to Edinburgh.
On the flight back to Amsterdam (KL1290 @ 19:30), the plane was nearly empty - 9 passengers, and 5 crew - this was one of KLMs Boeing 737-300s, which they have configured for 127 passengers.
It was a bit of a party flight too - most people moved to the forward cabin, and the cabin crew were handing out as many drinks as they could :-)
And with a virtually empty plane (and light on fuel), the take off was ultra quick - it's only a 60 minute flight anyhow.
If you really like cabin views, take a look here - my most viewed photo !

I volunteered to photograph the 13th annual EMPTY BOWLS event benefiting the foodbank of Santa Barbara county... for a donation you can pick a handmade ceramic bowl, choose a delicious soup and bread from a local restaurant or market and proceeds go to help feed those members of our community wrestling with hunger or food insecurity.
Nice to see so many people come out to support a great cause.
On February 16, thanks to USAID efforts, thousands of Liberian students will return to school and pick up their studies where they had left off in July 2014, when they were forced to stay home due to Ebola. USAID’s leading Ebola response has included the preparation of schools to be trained and equipt for when students return. As a part of this process, USAID has delivered wash kits, symptom identification and reaction training, and chlorine disinfectant supplies to schools across the country. James Vpmulbh has been the principal of Kendeja High School since 2012. Even before Ebola interrupted classes he faced major challenges--the 540-560 students at the school have had to be divided between morning and afternoon shifts in order to fit into the mere six classrooms. I hope one day I can find someone who'll love me half as much as this stupid baby boy. there is nothing quite like cuddling with 60 pounds of pit bull muscle. he is totally devoted. besotted. in love.
the other night when he was still so bloated and his stomach was tight as a drum for a good twelve hours after the rabbit food I was starting to think he might have bloat. and then I thought about losing him and I wanted to die.
he is the sweetness. all the misconceptions that follow him because of his "scary" appearance is the total opposite of his uncertain and sensitive soul.
I love him
a lot.
