Empty Lot is a large geometric sculpture created using scaffolding, a grid of triangular wooden planters, and soil collected from parks across London including Peckham, Haringey and Westminster. Nothing will be planted in the soil, but it will be lit by lamps and watered throughout the six month display. The unpredictable nature of the work, which may grow and change from one week to the next, provokes questions about the city and nature, as well as wider ideas of chance, change, and hope.

This is the A390 just west of St Austell taken on a Friday lunchtime at the beginning of the Easter school holidays.
Normally this would have a steady stream of traffic on a Friday at this time, but not this year.
With the thudding of its powerful Mirrlees engine sounding widely across the Worcestershire countryside, 60024 powers past Besford with 6E41, 11:41 Westerleigh-Lindsey empty fuel tanks on 7 October, 2009.

This was on a pretty decent swell day. It sucks to see this wave go to waiste but at the same time I'm glad I got to photograph it.

With the Iowa State Capitol in the background, Iowa Interstate ES44AC #506 pulls approximately 100 empty hoppers west thru downtown Des Moines. The only track remaining at this location is the IAIS main thru what was in previous decades the Des Moines Union Railway classification yard, which handled switching and interchange for any of the railroads serving Des Moines. Multiple large parking lots like the one shown here now cover what was once a landscape of nothing but track.
Just next to the Polk Co. courthouse building near photo center, and behind the newer bus terminal at center right, used to sit the Milwaukee Road passenger depot, now (what else?) a parking lot for court business. Just out of frame photo right sits the existing classy Rock Island station repurposed into businesses and restaurants.
This is a photo of the parking garage I went to one late afternoon turned around and looked and found I was the only one in it
Empty Revolver of a Taurus .44 Magnum. Doing some target practice at the Matanuska Valley Sportman's Range in Palmer, Alaska - an indoor range.
The Mickey Pool and water slide aboard the Disney Wonder sit empty -- a rare sight indeed, but this was the coldest day of the cruise (highs in the low 50's I think). I'm pretty sure a few hardy souls were out swimming later in the day none-the-less.
I took several shots of this with my DSLR, but this shot taken with my waterproof 35mm film camera was my favorite. Go figure.
It was cold and windy November morning. Empty beach, no one on the embankment, no shouts, no children laugh. And I thought about the summer that passed away and about the winter that come soon.
..rain is the beach culture enemy, all activity like selling coconut water, renting sand chairs etc. just ends.
Camera: Leica CL
Lens: Minolta M-Rokkor 40mm f/2
Film: Expired Solaris 400 shot at ISO 200
No meter
Developed at home
Mid-morning at the traveling carnival, long before opening for the day.
This is the first roll of film through my 2nd Leica CL. It needs to go in for a CLA since I think the shutter is a bit off at slower speeds, the light meter doesn't work, and the speed indicator in the viewfinder doesn't work.

If Love is a Red Dress (Hang Me in Rags) - Maria McKee
My heart is empty.
Your eyes are dark.
Once we were hungry,
Now we are full.
These chains that bind us,
Can't beat these chains.
If love is shelter,
I'm gonna walk in the rain.
You were my angel.
Now, you are real.
So like a stranger,
Colder than steel.
The morning after,
You know what you bring.
If love is a red dress,
Well, hang me in rags.
Away.
There goes the fairy tale.
Lord, ain't it a shame?
In all this comfort,
I can't take the strain.
If we played even,
I'd be your queen.
But someone was cheatin'.
And it wasn't me.
I've laid it on the table,
You had something back.
If love is Aces,
Give me the Jack.
