This is the Eagle's nest but no one was home.. Notice the post and brace on the big limb that is holding the nest.. Evidently the nest has gotten so large that it is putting too much strain on the major limb holding the nest... There is a nest that was rescued and treated on exhibit in the Education Building at the Jackson Bottom Wetland Preserve in Hillsboro.. That one fills a room so they aren't small...
High St Northcote is one of the most bustling streets in Melbourne. With cafes, bars, shops, restaurants and churches it has a buzz going every day of the year, except Christmas. For a few hours on Christmas morning the street is empty, save those cars left from Christmas Eve revelry. Then, everything returns to normal until next year.

An empty grain train from Quebec City with three CP SD40-2's and an ex-SOO SD60 (CP 5949, CP 5743, CP 5773 & CP 6252) are nearly at the end of their run as they approach St-Luc yard in Montreal. While the train has CP power and is on CP trackage here, it is a Quebec-Gatineau train and crew.
134 empty coal hoppers trail behind two big GEs (and ahead of a DPU) southbound at milepost 119.75 on Union Pacific's Shoreline Subdivision. Train originated at the Alliant Energy Edgewater Generating Station and is bound for the coal mines in Wyoming. Most of the cars are typical EDGX bathtub hoppers; a few COLX fill cars are also scattered throughout the consist.
Yesterday I removed the spent amaryllis bulbs from their vases and left the empty vases on the porch table, intending to clean and store them today. We had a crash-banger of a thunder storm, which did the preliminary rinse for me. After the rain ends, probably in a day or two, I will finish the job. In the meantime, I have inaccurate but dramatic rain gauges.

Empty Lot is a large geometric sculpture created using scaffolding, a grid of triangular wooden planters, and soil collected from parks across London including Peckham, Haringey and Westminster. Nothing will be planted in the soil, but it will be lit by lamps and watered throughout the six month display. The unpredictable nature of the work, which may grow and change from one week to the next, provokes questions about the city and nature, as well as wider ideas of chance, change, and hope.

Active Assignment Weekly: Aug 16-23: Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness
I thought after my wacky submission I should try a more serious one. I have tried this shot a few times and I think I am finally happy with how it came out.
This shot shows sadness for me because it represents someone who is empty inside or missing something.
I purposely left my face out of the shot for two reasons:
1. To keep it more general so more people could relate to it, and
2. I wanted to avoid another Sonny verbal assault :-)
WIT: A picture of me holding a picture frame, then switch to manual focus before pressing the shutter again to keep the DOF the same as the original and took a shot of the background. In photoshop, layered the photos and used a layer mask to brush out the inside of the picture frame.
...is the feeling you get when you know you should be at Fenway Park, but you're in some other strange stadium that just does not hold the same appeal.
HWH based WDS-6R loco - 36191 showed up near Howrah yard with the empty rake of 12346 (Guwahati-Howrah) Saraighat Express as it is being shunted to Howrah coaching depot !!
With the Iowa State Capitol in the background, Iowa Interstate ES44AC #506 pulls approximately 100 empty hoppers west thru downtown Des Moines. The only track remaining at this location is the IAIS main thru what was in previous decades the Des Moines Union Railway classification yard, which handled switching and interchange for any of the railroads serving Des Moines. Multiple large parking lots like the one shown here now cover what was once a landscape of nothing but track.
Just next to the Polk Co. courthouse building near photo center, and behind the newer bus terminal at center right, used to sit the Milwaukee Road passenger depot, now (what else?) a parking lot for court business. Just out of frame photo right sits the existing classy Rock Island station repurposed into businesses and restaurants.

A shot that is not possible nowadays due to the construction of the new dual carriageway of the A1 west of Dunbar. Seen just before what was Beltonford crossing ( closed after a fatality ) is 60043 hauling 6E30, empty steel train from Dalzell - Lackenby. At this time this train was running 5 times a week and sometimes on a Saturday. Seen at 1504 on the 3rd September 1999.
