A mostly untouched IC 6251, still retaining its white frame stripe, leads a string of empty ore jennies north to the United Taconite facility in Fairlane. This train has three different SD40 variants all with different lineage.

At sunset a regal dairy barn sits empty like a king without a kingdom. After retirement, many people look back on years of travel and sacrifice for their career and regard their hard work for a company only as a reminder of family loss.
There are two approaches to removing people from the scene. Option 1 is long exposure or Option 2 issue $1,600 fines for anyone caught fishing as it is non essential. I chose option one for this shot. (Before lockdown - I am behaving)
CN 2449 charges south with Minntac limestone empties at Culver, MN on Feb. 26, 2018. The train is mostly empties but is actually 6 loads and 51 empties as it rolls towards Proctor.
Both limestone power sets of Dash 8s has had a cowl leader most of this winter. Haven't caught it much on the road as the crew has usually been often dying up at Minntac, making the southbound return trips unpredictable.

CP 8043 sits at the head end of what will become CP 851 (westbound coal empties). The train has been unloaded at Thunder Bay Terminals in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Next time, I won't position over a puddle and wait for the people to appear from hiding just out of frame. Next time, I will wait for the people to appear, then take my position.

RJ Corman Z544 eases out of the tunnel and into the icy cut at Eastwood with 40 empty aluminum flats for Berea in tow.
Empty spritz and wine glasses from Al Merca, the next-door ciccheteria (tapas bar) near the Rialto market in Venice. A perfect spot to get a little glimpse into the social life in Venice. Excellent local flavour....well worth a visit.
During summer, the cabins (Iltios-Stöfeli) are rather empty, it's not like it winter where the ski tracks attract thousands of people!
