Boston, Massachusetts, USA - September 29, 2010 - Created by Northeastern University engineering students, the Braille embosser uses an inkjet printer and a pin pack to print Braille letters one at a time. Compared to traditional $2,000 printers, this prototype can be manufactured for $200, sacrificing print speed for affordability. The team of students was recently awarded $10,000 from the National Braille Press. Pictured is engineering student Jeff Witkowski. PHOTO: Mary Knox Merrill

At Stonetown, most of the impressive architectural structures are of Arab influence with a blend of Indian and European design. The buildings have evenly spaced windows with an elaborately carved door, decorated with massive brass bosses.
This is just a detailed shot of an embossed wooden floral design on one of the many carved doors seen at Stonetown. This door is fronting the ocean and has weathered the test of time.

I lined up five rows of sentiment stamps and tiny design elements from the new Hero Arts Clear Design Hoiiday Sayings set and stamped them in black ink multiple times on white cardstock. I embossed with Judikins Aegean Silver EP, which has a touch of glitter.
Next I sprayed the white cardstock with Strawberry Daiquiri Memories Mists and Oriental Poppy Glimmer Mist. I finished with sheer silver ribbon and a Martha Stewart punched silver metallic snowflake accented with a Hero Arts adhesive pearl.

I don't often use patterned paper on my cards, but have just received 4 blocks of My Mind's Eye 6 x 6, and couldn't resist.
Stamped star (Hero Arts Grenadine Layering Paper) with the Antique Flower Background using Versamark and embossed, then covered with white Distress Stains.
I went on a card making spree this weekend. Trying out some more embossing techniques as well as incorporated text , both by my own hand as well as vintage text copied onto various colors of papers.
I put soft craft metal on top of a stamp and used tools to emboss the image into the metal. Then I painted the metal with glass paint, then added some embossing powders and turned on the heat gun.
Gold embossing powder added to bead with one layer of colored liquid clay. Then heated a bit to expand it. After it cools, another layer of liquid clay added to seal it in
Image started out as an embossed photo paper colored with alcohol inks. Hue edited in Paint.net. Curves feature in Paint.net used to deepen the Midtones.
I was inspired by the card on page 5 in the catty and I've been dying to try stamping on fabric since the new catalog came out. I embossed the stamped flowers on the exact same pink dotted fabric shown here at the bottom. Isn't there quite a difference in how the stamp looks? Only the yellow and green on this card are CS.

I love that this card is fall themed, without being heavily fall colored. This is my go to technique for coloring stamped images for cards. I used two different Simon Says Stamp stamp sets for this card- Thanks & Leaves (SSS101894) and Delicate Flowers (SSS201900). Excellent detail and sharpness, very satisfying result. The plate also help up to the pressure of the press, so shallow plates may be a technique to keep experimenting with.

carving letters into wood to be able to emboss this for a book cover. my attempts are the ones that failed - too much power i guess - lem_monade made the working one that works quite nice - next step is to carve in the letters mirrored.

This card was inspired by Debby Highes and Stephanie Klauck in the Online Card Class today.
For my card I stamped and colored the bunny from Mama Ellephant's Honey Bunny. The ballons are cut from scrap paper using WPlus9s' Whole Lotta Happy dies which I I embossed with heat & stick adding Rock Candy glitter and then covered with Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder. I also added stars using Simon Says' Falling Stars stencil and Dreamweaver embossing paste. I also flicked the background with Tattered Angels glimmer mist. The sentiment is from Mama Elephant's Fair Feathers.
