For Jo's Christmas Kickstart challenge. This fortnight the theme is a Twofer - Christmas Tree. two cards, different designs, one stamp or die. This one used the Hero Arts Merry Merry tree with an embossing folder
We recently received our logo embosser from CustomEmbossers.com, who laser-etched plates with our Inksie block logo.
Technique using clear embossing to seal layers. Multi layers can be seen. The embossing adds a special "vintage" feel to the paint splatters.
Heidi Swapp Spray stencil, "joy" cameo cut, Lawn Fawn die, Neat and Tangled stamp, dollar store wood cut, Martha Stewart black glitter, yellow and white acrylic paint, clear embossing powder, GelWriter gel pen, Basic Grey patterned paper.
Silver coloured metal chain strap with buckle closure. Double zip closure. False back zip closure. Leather insole and lining. Rubber sole. Made in Italy
Technique came quite by accident - I picked a stamp too detailed to emboss and then thought it would be a shame to toss so i used staz on and stamped on top of the dry gold embossing powder and then heat set again. LOVED the result!

*This isn't a hero arts card but since i was inspired by "stamping sue" to stamp on an alcohol inked background (and i loved the unexpected result of stamping on embossing) I thought I'd share it here. TFL!*

I love the look of Stampin’ Up’s embossing folders. Unfortunately, there is no similar product for My Digital Studio. I’m trying to create the same look with some tricks in the software. The bottom of this card is meant to look like I used the Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

This card was done using the "Embossing Scraps" technique from Bernie Berlin's book. You let the glue ooze out from behind the images, put embossing powder on the glue, and then heat. It bubbles and looks really cool. My plan was that this would be a background for something, but I thought it looked just right on its own.
The embosser, from CustomEmbossers.com, has removeable plates. Since our plates are best for very thick materials, we plan on ordering another set for paper stock.
The Hero Arts contest this month is to "Try Something New" so I doubled embossed on this one card. Wood grain dry embossed and the doily is heat embossed.

The bungalow is very spacious, ( the family room is 30-ft by 20-ft ) ~ with 10-ft high ceilings.
I have just found the best photo so far ~ after the coconut-wood beams had been polished, and the panels filled with embossed wall-paper called 'Super-Fresco' which I brought with me from England ~ because it appears to be unknown in the Philippines.
Needless to say, I am very pleased with the result !
We can either make bags with embossed prints or use this technique for the labels. Add gold linings please!

I'm sure there are technicalities to whether the term "embossing" is really appropriate here, but in any case, this is a technique known in Japanese as karazuri. It's a particularly fine usage of the technique here, and I'm glad it came out.
Karazuri (空刷り) literally means "empty imprinting". A woodblock is carved with a pattern (in this case waves), and then, without inking it at all, the block is imprinted into the paper, leaving an inkless white-on-white embossed pattern.
This is most commonly seen in small areas, such as a section of white kimono sticking out from beneath other layers. But here it's seen across a large section of the composition.
