After what seemed like a lifetime of bad weather on the Isle of Harris I eventually made it to Elgol Beach on Skye and the sun shone for me. Being Scotland though it only appeared for about 5 minutes before hiding behind the clouds again. Still, it was nice to see an appearance and it let me get a few shots before it was away for the day.
Elgol, being Elgol.
My third visit here. Spectacular place, especially in bonkers weather conditions.
Elgol Beach on Skye 4 years ago..... i was going though some old cards and found this and i reckoned it needed editing .... what do you think?
My final posting of the beach at Elgol for this year. This is a tremendous place to visit for photographers but you need to time the visit better than I did. I tried to squeeze too much into my trip and shot Niest Point, Elgol and Eilean Donan in a single day. With Neist point at dawn and Dornie at dusk I was left shooting Elgol at the height of the day. Each of these location are worth a day of shooting.
The Elgol location is on a south west facing bay making it ideal for catching the early rays of a winter sunrise or for the mountains to catch the light of the winter sunset. I wasn't unhappy with what I got during my time there but knowing there is more to be had leaves me desperate to return.
Classic scene across Loch Scavaig to The Black Cuillin from Elgol. Whilst sunset never happened it was nice to see the view in some nice light.
After a day of buckets of rain, a. wonderful half hour at Elgol watching the waves crash and the clouds charge across the scene. There always seems to be a moment in every day when
the light performs. It's been such a. wild and wet few days , but I've had such fun. Buckets of rain is by Bob Dylan.
The stunning setting of Elgol in the Isle of Skye never fails to impress, especially under a moody domineering sky.
Taken this past week on a 5 night stay in Elgol so had loads of opportunities to capture some different shots
Sunset at Elgol on the Isle Of Skye. Across Loch Scavaig lie the Black Cuillin with their memorable jagged peaks. I love this place.
Elgol, Isle of Skye, Scotland - Just a step to the Cuillins.
Taking the 15 miles road from Broadford you end up in Elgol, having a fantastic view to the Cuillins. Actually I wanted to take a nice sunset shot but I guess this shot isn't less dramatic,
