Fluid Fabric Project: The East Coast 10 Mile Sprints

Location #5# - 50 Mile Point: Shingle Street, Woodbridge, Suffolk.

Seawater, shingle, sand, dew.

Series made using fundamental, natural elements. These natural elements and compounds are collected at the site of the picture - usually at the location depicted within the photograph. The depicted scene you see here is created not just by light on film but by melding samples of elements and organic matter from the scene into the film development process where subject and medium are married together, the resulting image created from the scene itself.

No collating or cutting and pasting of external or internal elements into the picture in Photoshop or similar editor has taken place.

The hot, fiery orange against the blue and green is like the elements. Fire, water, earth. Taken with the 105mm macro this past weekend in a shady spot of the butterfly garden.

Ugh, i am so disappointed with this! Basically, it's my salvaging of an image for The Teleidoscope's theme of "the 4 elements." Originally i had planned to portray each of the four, but Fire and Water were really not working out, so instead i decided to keep Air and try to bring in the other elements somehow. Result? Cop out crappy shot. It's really hard to add a background behind an image with blurry hands and feet! Blargh. Live and learn, i guess.

day fourteen of the March photo challenge. My four elements tattoo: earth, air, fire water.

This was a site with a lot of potential! Originally a very plain, large lawn area with no excitement in the space, the clients wanted a dramatic new look involving the elements of water, timber, stone and plant material.

A bold concept was needed. We decided to dissect the space with a large, naturalistic wildlife pond crossed by a timber bridge. The section shown here is part of the long, serpentine pathway that links the main house with the summerhouse at the far end of the garden. The shape formed by the sleeper pathway is dramatic yet flowing and harmonious and leads the walker on.

The banks of the large pond were clad with pebbles and marginal aquatic plants.

The pond is about three foot deep in the middle, to ensure that it doesn’t freeze completely in winter. We were able to spread the topsoil from the area over the rest of the garden. Since this garden is near the coast, we removed a lot of sand.

A large filter system was added with a waterfall at one end of the pond to help keep the water clear and free of algae.

This photograph enables you to see the lines of the newly constructed area. Just six months later, the aquatic plants had grown enough to provide quite a mature look. You can see the result in the next photograph in the series.

This striking elemental garden was designed for a couple living in a converted farmhouse in the Pennines. The clients had a large area edging their driveway which they felt looked messy. Due to it's prominent position in front of the house, they wanted it to create a smarter approach and be beautifully lit at night, but also to be somewhere they could use as an extension of the current garden.

Schemes which don't use concrete or other modern products are always exciting. This scheme features timber sleepers, huge slices of stone boulder (some as big as 2m x 1.5m), water and an interesting selection of plants. The timber sleepers formed a winding pathway and bridge, while the stone boulder slices added another elemental texture. We even brought in a huge piece of stone to use as a bench!

Seen from this angle the planting in the scheme is predominantly euphorbia, phormium and cortaderia.

I heard somewhere, that artists like to hold on to works, which hold a sentimental value, they become attatched to them and grow to be special. Here's one l've been saving.

These are prototype casts of summonable elementals for the heroica mage. Class specific unfortunately but the other classes will also be getting gear. Final casts will have more detail and be able to stick on a lego bump. There is water, air, earth, fire, poison, chaos, and sol.

All my Elemental Beasts to date, I've got the brown head so I reckon that beast will be made next. :D
