My wife Ruth and try to visit as many folk observances as we can, for we feel it is there that one can experience the pulse of elemental Spain.
To truly participate in the culture of a select group of people, such as the people of Spain, it is important to honor their way of living that has developed over thousands of years. It is not unusual for Spaniards to have a spontaneous celebration where the spiritual element merges with the secular to form a happy unity.

Esta exposición recoge el trabajo fotográfico de Ricardo Cases desde 2010, cuando cambia su residencia de Madrid a Valencia. A través de cinco series, analiza el universo levantino como un lugar colorido, anárquico, salvaje y desconcertante, pero innatamente español.
El Levante de Ricardo Cases es un universo hecho de luz, sorpresa, precariedad y caos. Un país sin reglas, fascinante y alucinatorio que, de algún modo, condensa el espíritu de la sociedad contemporánea. Las series son “Sol”, “Paloma al aire”, “El porqué de las naranjas”, “Podría haberse evitado” y “Agrios huertos, azules limonares”. Todas ellas recorren paisajes y personas con temas sobresaturados de color y que recrean un simbólico y personal universo levantino, plagado de ironía, vitalidad y personajes que representan la quintaesencia de la cultura autóctona de manera involuntaria.
