Built originally for the Chicago St.Paul Minneapolis & Omaha railroad (#6501A) in December 1949, the F7A was acquired by C&NW through merger. Still wearing road number 6501A, it was eventually retired and used as trade-in fodder in early 1959 towards an order for new GP30s.
The loco was re-incarnated by EMD as an F9A (s/n 26158) in the Spring of 1960 and used as a test bed; it was known to host very early components of EMD's new 645 prime mover.

A Twin Cities & Western Friday flashback. TC&W has been a steadily successful spinoff that thankfully has not turned orange yet. Despite their success TCW's route from home rails in Hopkins to St. Paul continues to evolve. Originally it was a pretty straight shot on former Milwaukee Road rails, then the conversion of this corridor into the Midtown Greenway triggered a reroute, and now again the construction of Southwest Light Rail has shuffled the route again. Near the heart of the "29th St Ditch" this crossing at 5th Ave South was the exception to all the concrete overpasses seen in the background. TC&W is still a good show, just not in South Minneapolis any longer. December 12, 1994.

So I recently watched The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and now I finally know the story behind my Electro minifig. Over all I thought the film itself was pretty good (though somewhat convoluted) and I enjoyed the soundtrack to the film much more than the first (I've had the Spider-Man theme in my head all day!).
All that to say, now that I have context for the Electro minifig I finally made a picture of him and I'm pretty happy with the results. :)
