Another from the storms on Friday

On my way home I had to pull over to see the sky behind me. It was lit up and electrified with color and atmosphere. The telephone poles seemed like the right item to include as they led my eyes off into the distance toward the Rocky Mountains that lie on the horizon.

seen at the Serpentine Fen in Surrey B.C. We could hear the sizzling as we walked under the Towers of Power :)

Must be the brains of the place. HTT! HWW!

Taken 26 Aug 21 with Fujifilm X-T3. This storm was about 25 miles away over northern Colorado. The cloud to ground strikes illuminated rain shaft while possible anvil crawlers with multiple branches extended horizontally beneath the cloud base.

Taken at the Kelsey See Canyon Winery. There's quite a few peacocks there, I followed one around hoping for a display of his feathers. Topaz and Color Efex added for drama.

MJRX SD40-2 2018, built as UP SD40-2 8012 in June 1974, sits outside of Railway Service Contractors in the Fairfax District on a stormy March afternoon. MJRX 2018 was painted for the Fort Worth and Western in late 2010 after being bought from National Rail Equipment, and operated as the only "Snoot Nose" locomotive on FWWR until recently when it was acquired by Rail Service Contractors and received black patches and new MJRX reporting marks. Being from Texas, this locomotive is definitely out of place here in Kansas, but the livery was coincidentally based on both railroads that have operated the Falls City Subdivision and switching operations in and around Fairfax; Missouri Pacific and Union Pacific.

Not many things can beat a good storm chase!

Dungeness has an atmosphere all of it's own and is hard to describe. There are a wealth of textures and abstracts to be had, I could spend hours wandering among the debris.

A breathtaking night unfolds above the electrically lit expanse of southern India.

From the flight deck of a high-cruising airliner, the Southern Milky Way stretches across a star-studded sky, accompanied by the Southern Cross constellation and the dark silhouette of the Coalsack Nebula.

In a rare celestial coincidence, a vivid red sprite crackles in the upper atmosphere, balancing electric charge from a hidden thunderstorm far below.

At the same moment, a Lyrid meteor bids its fiery farewell, ionizing the air in its path and causing it to leave a brilliant, fleeting trail.

Ancient starlight, the brief luminescence of two atmospheric wonders, and the human-made glow from the Earth below - all converge onto the sensor of a camera nestled in the flight deck. That sensor, momentarily electrified, fed its signal to a computer's circuits, allowing this image to exist and now be seen on your own electrically powered screen.

We truly live in an electric world.
