All along the western front
People line up to receive
She got the power in her hand
To shock you like you won't believe
Saw her in the Amazon
With the voltage running through her skin
Standing there with nothing on
She's going to teach me how to swim
Said oh, girl
Shock me like an electric eel
Baby girl
Turn me on with your electric feel
I said oh, girl
Shock me like an electric eel
Baby girl
Turn me on with your electric feel
All along the eastern shore
Put your circuits in the sea
This is what the world is for
Making electricity
You can feel it in your mind
Oh, you can do it all the time
Plug it in and change the world
You are my electric girl
Said oh, girl
Shock me like an electric eel
Baby girl
Turn me on with your electric feel
Said oh, girl
Shock me like an electric eel
Baby girl
Turn me on with your electric feel
Do what you feel now
Electric feel now
Do what you feel now
Electric feel now
Actually an attempt at handheld fireworks gone awry.
But I liked how this one turned out :D
I couldn't bring a mini tripod along because my work laptop already took up lots of space and weight.
A stunning orange Aventador lighting up a relatively dull day in Beverly Hills...
Not bad for a 1/2 second handheld shot either :P

It's electrifying!..
This was one of many shots I caught several years ago of a lightning storm over the rampart range. I deleted a couple of the sooc shots of this from my stream and processed this one in lightroom to bring out more of the drama in the sky.
These are the moments one should be a little scared. these are the moments I live for and get up for. 4am down on good harbor beach the storm coming across Lake Michigan. Pitch black and all I wait for is the next lightning bolt to strike. One after another the sky lights up. Each one seems a little closer and makes my heart beat faster.
There was an amazing lightning storm over Meltham last night with strikes every few seconds. It was an amazing spectacle. Here's a selection of close-up shots.

The 25 de Abril Bridge (Ponte 25 de Abril, 25th of April Bridge, Portuguese pronunciation: is a suspension bridge connecting the city of Lisbon, capital of Portugal, to the municipality of Almada on the left (south) bank of the Tagus river. It was inaugurated on August 6, 1966, and a train platform was added in 1999. Because it is a suspension bridge and has similar coloring, it is often compared to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, US. It was built by the American Bridge Company which constructed the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge, but not the Golden Gate. With a total length of 2,277 m, it is the 32nd largest suspension bridge in the world. The upper deck carries six car lanes, while the lower deck carries two train tracks electrified at 25 kV AC. Until 1974, the bridge was named Salazar Bridge. The name "25 de Abril" commemorates the Carnation Revolution

Las torres de alta tensión que traen la energía eléctrica desde las cientos de granjas solares ubicadas entre el Desierto de Atacama y la zona central de Chile pasan tranquilamente por las cercanías de Tongoy. There is something to be said for not being able to go through photos for a couple of months. It's like the vacation all over again because I don't remember taking this photo. Probably wind gave him his wonderful hairdo. This Reddish Egret is probably the most photographed bird at Fort de Soto Park in Florida. He is affectionately called "Big Red" and his fishing style is always an incredible show. I was very fortunate to see him often and couldn't get enough of his antics. He has a following and even has his own Flickr site. Another photo is in the comment box.
Thank you for your visit and comments. They are very much appreciated.
SU46-029, as the last running of all SU46, leads the special TurKol excursion train 55225 "Niedźwiadek" from Laskowice Pomorskie to Bydgoszcz Główna, passing the mechanical distant signal of the Prussian type before Osie, a station hidden deep inside of one of the largest forested areas of central Europe - Bory Tucholskie (aka Tuchola Forest, Tucheler Heide and Tëchòlsczé Bòrë). The day before yesterday marked the first anniversary of this awesome TurKol event in Northern Poland.
The vast forested area is home to many of Poland's most charmful railway lines, and at least twice as many closed down branchlines. Each time I happen to pay a visit here, I am hit with an overwhelming sense of nostalgia, as the region seems to be trapped in time. None of the lines are electrified, most of them have old telegraph poles running along them, many stations are still fully equipped with mechanical semaphore signals, and the whole ambience creates a very tranquill atmosphere. Air is clean, summers are warm and all one can hear is birds chirping away, which are occasionally broken up by gusts of wind hitting against the pine trees. Ever since I took this picture, I was of the opinion that it reflects the overall peacefullness and atmosphere of the forests.

CN 5369 on MoPac heritage rolls South towards Flat Rock yard, passing a intermediate of DT&I or GTW heritage. In the 1920's when Henry Ford purchased the DT&I his grand plan was to electrify the entire line South to interchange with the Virginian's electrified lines. Wrong voltages would prove this to be unsuccessful and the line was only electrified to Flat Rock. Today about half of the cement catenary's still remain from the once busy mainline.

The local line to Karpacz/Krummhübel (also called the Riesengebirgsbahn) was used very extensively in the interwar period. In some of the years, the vacation days used to have up to 14 pairs of trains a day. The line was owned privately but the Reichsbahn decided that it would electrify it to enable a direct connaction to Breslau.
The entire history of railway electrification in Lower Silesia is really interesting and many many books could be written on it. The project was proposed at the beginning of the 20th century to enable the heavy coal trains from around Waldenburg to cross the Lower Silesian mountainscapes. The railway line from Niedersalzbrunn to Meziměstií was declared a test stretch for the newly implemented 15kV 16⅔Hz system, which later went on to be used on the German, Austrian and Swiss networks. Up until the start of WW2 over 400 kilometers of railway lines were electrified in this region.
After the end of the war, the electric trains to Karpacz were running for a few more days until it was decided that the catenary be dismantled and moved to the USSR as war reparations. Nowadays there is almost nothing reminding people here that there used to be electric trains running here. Only a couple of old German pylons remain on the stations, like here - in Miłków. On March 8th we managed to photograph SM31-009 with a special work train which was doing trackworks around the station, related to the renewal of traffic on the line to Karpacz.

Electrifying Day at the beach. This another lightning composite from this summer. It was taken as a big thunderstorm moved east at over Hilton Head, SC. This was a crazy storm I had been watching on radar. A shelf cloud form to the north just before sunset and I walked up the beach over a mile to get a better look and get a few photos, but what I didnt realize was another larger storm was building behind me. The sky was dark and I could see lightning and ran back to the hotel just before the rain, wind and lightning hit. This photo is of the lightning as it moved off shore.

This is from just an hour ago looking over the bay near Fort Myers.
The one thing I can always count on when scouting out a good location for a lightning photo. Whenever i find a nice foreground, the lightning will always be in the other direction. The direction where the foreground sucks. This is looking the other direction.
