I developed this film using QWD ECN-2 chemistry. It's a long story about a gift of 4 Silbersalz rolls that should have included developing and scanning back in Stuttgart. Instead, the film took a round trip from New York to Frankfurt, getting stuck in German customs for months with indifferent support from Silbersalz. So upon their return to me, I developed and scanned them myself. QWD makes a great product for home development of Vision3.

In the garden of The Grand Hotel in Rimini. This bench in front of this rhino sculpture is new since I had last visited.
January 20 is Federico Fellini's birthday, which he also shared with David Lynch who just passed away. Lynch took pride in having the same birthday as Fellini.
The rhino sculpture is based upon the rhino that appeared in the film And The Ship Sails On.

Experimenting with light painting recently. This was the last frame of a roll that didn’t work as well as I’d hoped. Overcast and dreary allowed me to get down to a 1/4s shutter to drag the skyline as I moved the camera. Really happy with the results, exactly what I saw in my head. Shot on The Celluloid Collective 500t motion picture film and hand developed at home.

The doors with the flags above it was used as the police station in Fellini's il Bidone. In the scene, the main character is released from here.
This was also the same street Fellini used as the exterior for Alberto's house in I Vitelloni. Not the same location, but just a few doors away.
I went to the location from I Vitelloni on my trip from 2019, but I didn't know that Fellini briefly filmed a scene from il Bidone on the same street.

This was a recent client shoot I had a couple weeks back. I ended up wanting to try Kodak's Vision3 film but having it developed in ECN2 instead of C41. Had the courage to make my own ECN2 chemistry and I'm really excited about the results. There's some smaller fine tuning I can do in the developing process, such as finding an effective way of removing remjet, but other than that I'm really happy!
