It's that magical time of year at Echo Ridge. Fires are lit and cabins are warm as the snow starts to fall on the evergreen forests. Hear the ice sing under the setting sun and make a wish upon a shooting star.

There are experiences that mark us. They are so intense and unique that we go back to those memories over and over again, reapreciando every feeling as if it were the first time

It wasn't the best sky I've ever seen, I didn't see the best shooting stars, in fact, it wasn't even the astrolandscape session for which I was more motivated, since it was the second session in a row and the fatigue was kicking in.

These factors led to lower the pace. Instead of looking frantically for the most diverse subjects, I chose one at the end of the afternoon and waited

This long and relaxed wait allowed me to truly observe for the first time in 2 days the natural splendor that surrounded me. The Almendra dam area is rich in wildlife as well as quite remote from civilization, having only small villages, yet distant. Human and city sounds are completely non-existent and replaced by a frenzy of animal life, and in the space of just over 1h30 it was easy to appreciate small and large birds, cat-sized fish, leisurely feeding cattle, deers, far and suspicious, among others animals and sounds, so well known but so rare to hear so often.

The night has come, windy but with a pleasant temperature, the sounds changed but the frenzy of nature was kept, and I think that for the first time in many years, I just observed the starry sky, accompanied by the relaxing melody of the waves of water and the fauna that it supports.

This is the only picture of this night. Seek to convey calm, tranquility and beauty, and it is a reflection of the whole experience of this late afternoon / night

PS. The human being cannot, in any way, percecionar these colors during the night. It was however only used by the camera. It's probably the most "fake" photo I've ever posted.

"Echoes of tomorrow", Sculpture de Cléon Peterson

"Le sombre cavalier symbolise les dirigeants autoritaires du passé qui se glorifiaient dans les statues traditionnelles. Peterson met en lumière la brutalité et l'oppression incarnées par ces figures, établissant des parallèles avec les climats politiques actuels.

La sculpture souligne la menace persistance de l'autoritarisme, reflétant les luttes cycliques de l'histoire contre la tyrannie."

Usually I like to shoot Echo during a fiery sunrise or sunset when the red rock glows. Or, in spring when it's stands out in the snow or is peeking through the clouds. This day it was shrouded in heavy smoke from the many wildfires around the state. It always makes me pause to think about the power of Mother Nature ... since it was once a satellite volcano. But this time I thought about the fires ... and the sacrifices. I hope the rain this week brings some much needed relief.

Echo Reservoir is the lake created by Echo Dam in Summit County, Utah, standing about six miles north of Coalville. The earthen dam was constructed in 1931 by the United States Bureau of Reclamation and was just recently reworked to make it more sturdy and a bit taller. The construction partially accounts for the low level of the lake but it is filling very slowly due to the continuing drought in the western United States.

I'm never really excited about black and white film that is supposed to be developed in color chemicals. At this point, I think Ilford is the only company making it, and it just doesn't do anything for me. In fact, I mostly forget that it exists.

But then I end up shooting some and pulling off something like this. Damn. The darkness is something!

For more fun, this is what it looks like in ECN-2 chemistry. I don't know if it makes a difference, but it would be somewhat fun to find out.

These little bell flowers were pretty much the only thing blooming in Echo Basin in mid-March.

Also fun is the sliver of Mount St. Helens ash that can be seen towards the bottom right of the photo. This is from the 1980 eruption.

Mt Buffalo looking over the Victorian Alps.

1,152 ha surrounding the Gorge was declared a national park in 1898, becoming one of Victoria's first national parks.

The park then became a focus for tourism and in 1908, a road was cut up the mountain. Two years later Mount Buffalo Chalet was built, becoming very popular with the visitors to the region. In 1836, Australia’s first ski tow was installed at Cresta Valley.

In 1998 Mount Buffalo celebrated its centenary. The Park now covers 31,000 ha, encompassing the entire plateau and most of the forested foothills down to nearby valleys.

The park is also now part of the collective Australian Alps National Parks

"Les formes et les choses se manifestent à celui qui n'est pas attaché à son être propre. Dans ses mouvements, il est comme l'eau ; dans son repos il est comme un miroir, et dans ses réponses, il est comme l'écho."

Bali is a volcanic island and as such has a selection of black rocks and black sand beaches, most notably on the east coast, the north coast and the west coast. White sand beaches can be found on on the South coast and a few select places in East Bali.

One of the most famous west facing beach is Echo Beach, have rough surf and is known to have many rip currents and strong undertow. Also, the quality of a beach can change drastically between seasons.

Echo beach really isn't suitable as a swimming or relaxation beach, but has a solid reputation as a surf beach. The beach is a bit rocky and the sand is blackish and the seawall on which the restaurants are built is not attractive. The surfing attracts a crowd of surfers and watchers, and it is enjoyable to watch the action from the seawall while enjoying the cuisine from the outdoor restaurants and off course this is my favorite beach to hang out with friends or often alone by myself..hehe!

To my friend Jeffie Brown ... Welcome to Bali, will see you in Echo on Monday~!
