The best way to start the morning for a kayak angler; with the 'yak on the water, loaded, and ready to head out (after a hot cup of java of course!). This shot was 30 feet from our camper door on 5/19/18.
the echo of a distant time
comes willowing across the sand
and everything is green and submarine
and no one showed us to the land
and no one knows the wheres or whys
but something stirs and something tries
and starts to climb towards the light

I combined photos of a sculpture that was on display in Madison Square Park from May 5 to Aug 14, 2011 in New York City. HSS
Towering forty-feet above the central Oval Lawn, Jaume Plensa’s Echo is a monumental sculpture that depicts the head of a nine-year-old girl from the artist’s Barcelona neighborhood. The work, marking Plensa’s New York City public space debut, is made of resin, steel and coated in white marble dust. Echo, a mountain nymph in Greek mythology, was cursed by the goddess Hera. As a result, she was unable to speak, except for the last words uttered by another person.
The calm of Plensa’s Echo offers a quiet counterpoint to the voices of the thousands of daily visitors to Madison Square Park. A child with her eyes closed and her mouth poised, the looming sculpture conveys peaceful, dream-like introspection with the surreal air of disquietude. Drawing on Surrealism’s links to his work, the artist has said that “the beauty of art is that your dreams must be shared with others, but first you must dream.” Plensa is closely identified today with his practice of creating outsized portrait heads of those in his community in Barcelona. He realizes their likenesses and then, with computer technology and sophisticated fabrication techniques, transforms each individual as a collective figure of the human condition. [Madison Sq. Pk. Love this beautiful family. It's cold so the kids and mom are in the den most every night. Wish they would keep the cam going a little longer.
Please don't go!

City Echoes II
She's been with us for one week now. Wow--what a huge change having a puppy in our lives. As you know, the cats are still adjusting....it will take awhile.
This morning we're going to the Farmer's Market to be around people and dogs. Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments and being patient as I try to keep up with Echo and Flickr.

So apparently not ONLY is Echo still alive, but he was to return in season 7 (Most likely with Gregor?) in an Experimental Commando story Arc.
Check it out on Clone Wars' story writer Brent Friedman's twitter page...

Oh, and there's a SLIM chance we could get a season 7 on Netflix. Anyone want to bombard Filoni with emails? :P

Echo at the pumpkin farm yesterday out in the country a few miles from my cat colony. She's doing really well with her "sit/ stay" command.
But she ate tons of pumpkin seeds, mushy pumpkins and everything else out in the field.

Königssee is an elongated mountain lake in the Berchtesgaden area in southeastern Bavaria. Since the Königssee is nestled between steep mountain slopes, it is described as a fjord-like. Famous is the echo of Koenigssee. During the trip by boat the coxswain is demonstrating to the guests with a flugelhorn or a trumpet the impressive echo from the Echowand (echo rock wall). You can hear it one-way or rarely twice.

For the Macro Monday theme "Lit by candlelight" (December 2nd 2013)
I found these fragile, dry remains of the white lace-cap hydrangea in the garden - a poignant echo of their summer glory. The flowers are just about 1" diameter. I have used up to 8 candles of varying heights. The shots are all pretty well SOOC - Photoshop has only been used to crop a shot, resize it (the uploader won't take my full size photos ever since the 'new improved' Flickr) and to add a signature. No post processing at all ;o)

She get's an A+ for great social skills. Teething/biting is better. Potty training is going well --fewer and fewer accidents. But daytime crate training proves to be difficult...mainly because she wants to be with us all of the time. Today we tried leaving her in the crate and going outside so she'd be alone in the house. Not good. Puppy class teacher gave me homework on how to make it better.
Well, between taking her for her morning hike, taking her out for socialization, and keeping her tethered to me for potty training---putting her in and out of the crate a dozen times a day until she get's comfortable with it just seems daunting. How on earth do people who work full time train their puppies? I'm retired and it eats up my entire day. Not complaining.....just sayin'.

Thanks for all the visits, comments and invites on my previous photos, much appreciated!
I hope your September is going well. I had hoped to return to Flickr full time by now but am still super busy with Echo. I will try to drop in and see what you all have been up to,.
Self-portrait January 2025 ⭐️ This self-portrait was created with a disco ball, illuminated with a spotlight flashlight. A smoke machine was also used. The light spectacle was unbelievable 😊
This one was a really tricky self-portrait, because I photographed myself from a slightly lower perspective than I would normally do. And the light that fell on the disco ball was almost uncontrollable (angle the light which falls on the glass plates, etc.). Maybe this is an absolute lucky snapshot 😊
When she opens her eyes, there is nothing but darkness, a weightless sensation, as if she were caught somewhere between waking and dreaming. Then — a beam of light. A thin, pale shimmer descending from above, touching her face. With the light comes a whisper. And an echo.
The light expands. It fractures, as if something had been trapped within it. New rays burst forth in every direction, like cracks in a mirror as it shatters. With each new glimmer, a voice follows. Fragments of her past, scattered in the darkness—now gathered in the light.
Echoes.
