My singing group went on a retreat to Ghost Ranch. The culmination of our trip was singing at the Echo Amphitheater, a natural formation providing wonderful echoey acoustics.

O. Elytis ~ Marina of the rocks:
"You have a taste of tempest on your lips - But where did you wander
All day long in the hard reverie of stone and sea?
An eagle-bearing wind stripped the hills
Stripped your longing to the bone
And the pupils of your eyes received the message of chimera
Spotting memory with foam!...."
There on Echo Base the daily activity focus on adjusting the snowspeeders to be in perfect shape when they are needed.
Took Echo to the lake today. Here she is watching her fishing pole very carefully as they stock this lake with trout. After she caught her quota, we hiked around the entire lake. Not a bad way to spend the first day of September.
Having a puppy has made my life a whirlwind. Forgive me if I get behind ...I try to comment when I have time.
One more below.
Her look is kinda inspired by "The Game of Thrones" series. I got really sick last month and watched the entire first season. I made this little fur cloak for Echo as node to the Night's Watch. Anyone else watch that show?
The Başköy Gorge at Şeytan Kalesi is 300 meters deep and pretty narrow. Screaming from the castle provides an amazing echo rolling through the valley. Kinda ghostly.

I combined photos of a sculpture that was on display in Madison Square Park from May 5 to Aug 14, 2011 in New York City. HSS
Towering forty-feet above the central Oval Lawn, Jaume Plensa’s Echo is a monumental sculpture that depicts the head of a nine-year-old girl from the artist’s Barcelona neighborhood. The work, marking Plensa’s New York City public space debut, is made of resin, steel and coated in white marble dust. Echo, a mountain nymph in Greek mythology, was cursed by the goddess Hera. As a result, she was unable to speak, except for the last words uttered by another person.
The calm of Plensa’s Echo offers a quiet counterpoint to the voices of the thousands of daily visitors to Madison Square Park. A child with her eyes closed and her mouth poised, the looming sculpture conveys peaceful, dream-like introspection with the surreal air of disquietude. Drawing on Surrealism’s links to his work, the artist has said that “the beauty of art is that your dreams must be shared with others, but first you must dream.” Plensa is closely identified today with his practice of creating outsized portrait heads of those in his community in Barcelona. He realizes their likenesses and then, with computer technology and sophisticated fabrication techniques, transforms each individual as a collective figure of the human condition. [Madison Sq. Pk. Conservancy Website].
beneath a canopy of soft, glowing lights, the remnants of a joyful evening linger. delicate roses, still vibrant, rest quietly on white tables, their presence a silent testament to the love and laughter that filled this small Bavarian village. the blurred figures in the background and the gentle bokeh of the lights create an intimate atmosphere, capturing the fleeting nature of celebrations and the beauty found in their quiet aftermath. this image speaks of cherished moments and the lingering warmth of a special night.
Love this beautiful family. It's cold so the kids and mom are in the den most every night. Wish they would keep the cam going a little longer.
Please don't go!
Panorama on our way (Mt Evans Rd) to Summit Lake and Mount Evans in the Front Range region of the Rocky Mountains, Colorado.
Echo Lake Park is a park located along the Mount Evans Scenic Byway about 33.5 mi (54 km) west of Denver, Colorado.
Echo Lake is a shallow, oligotrophic lake situated at 10,600 ft (3,230 m) above sea level near Mount Evans in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. It formed during the latest period of glaciation roughly 10,000 years ago. As glaciers retreated in the Chicago Creek valley, lateral moraines formed a natural dam to drainage, forming the lake. The ecosystem around the lake is dominated by Engelmann Spruce (Picea engelmannii) and Subalpine Fir (Abies lasiocarpa), with some Limber Pine (Pinus flexilis) on exposed sites.

The best way to start the morning for a kayak angler; with the 'yak on the water, loaded, and ready to head out (after a hot cup of java of course!). This shot was 30 feet from our camper door on 5/19/18.
Was hoping to test the new lens with some action shots, but had to settle for a portrait. Echo decided, rightly so, that it was way too hot for madly dashing around the yard.
the echo of a distant time
comes willowing across the sand
and everything is green and submarine
and no one showed us to the land
and no one knows the wheres or whys
but something stirs and something tries
and starts to climb towards the light

It's that magical time of year at Echo Ridge. Fires are lit and cabins are warm as the snow starts to fall on the evergreen forests. Hear the ice sing under the setting sun and make a wish upon a shooting star.
She's been with us for one week now. Wow--what a huge change having a puppy in our lives. As you know, the cats are still adjusting....it will take awhile.
This morning we're going to the Farmer's Market to be around people and dogs. Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments and being patient as I try to keep up with Echo and Flickr.

Time for a little work at Echo. The dispatcher on the busy UP Evanston Subdivision allows maintenance of way crews to work on the tracks at Echo, UT. This causes a couple of trains to take a brief pause, including UP 2666 west.
Echo at the pumpkin farm yesterday out in the country a few miles from my cat colony. She's doing really well with her "sit/ stay" command.
But she ate tons of pumpkin seeds, mushy pumpkins and everything else out in the field.
