An abandoned Turkish Cypriot Muslim cemetery in Tochni. The dates on the graves were all from before 1974. Tochni is a beautiful village and worth a visit to see however it has a dark past. Many Turkish Cypriots lived here and after Turkeys invasion and the horrible crimes committed by them against the Greek Cypriot population, the Greek Cypriots in the village and nearby clashed with the Turkish Cypriots, all out of sudden anger, pain and revenge which resulted in many killings of innocent Turkish Cypriots who had no role in the conflict, which was wrong and should not have happened. Its a very sad state of affairs how this atrocity played out. From both sides, the Cypriots, unfortunately, caught up in the conflict - Tochni.

Apparently there is a long standing tradition of unsanctioned fireworks being shot off all around Echo Park Lake on the 4th of July. We walked down to Echo Park Lake to take them in. On the way, we strolled past and under several, which was a little unnerving.
The cops kicked us out of the park, saying we were trespassing as the park was closed. Not quite true as it was only 9:30 and the signs say the park closes at 10:30. We weren't really going to start arguing with the LAPD though. This isn't the greatest photo, but I happened to catch one with Downtown L.A. in the background.
This shot was taken while standing on the shore of echo lake. The trees on either side of the photograph frame the image perfectly.

Went to Halquest Stone in Franklin today. It was like being a kid in a candy store. So many beautiful pieces to choose from. I finally settled on Echo Mountain stone for edging on my bed and steppers for the gated arbor I@ installing this weekend.
Echo had a good weekend! She finally told me her name, I made her a hat from my handspun yarn, and I gave her a quick boggle. :D
