Apparently there is a long standing tradition of unsanctioned fireworks being shot off all around Echo Park Lake on the 4th of July. We walked down to Echo Park Lake to take them in. On the way, we strolled past and under several, which was a little unnerving.

The cops kicked us out of the park, saying we were trespassing as the park was closed. Not quite true as it was only 9:30 and the signs say the park closes at 10:30. We weren't really going to start arguing with the LAPD though. This isn't the greatest photo, but I happened to catch one with Downtown L.A. in the background.

This is Hunter's guinea pig "Echo". By far this is the coolest guinea pig ever. He is twice as big as any of the other ones we have had and he is very affectionate (and photogenic!).
