Echo had a good weekend! She finally told me her name, I made her a hat from my handspun yarn, and I gave her a quick boggle. :D

Echo Bay (population 600) has an odd little memorial. The plinth is of standard size for a small community cenotaph but the statue -- of a winged cherub -- is quite out of scale at a mere 12 inches. Winged cherubs as the centerpiece are an unusual sight among the war memorials I have seen.
The small frame building was constructed at least by 1928 when the Echo post office was established and possibly as early as 1900. It was moved about 50 yards north to prevent it's demolition. The original PO boxes and wooden flooring exists within. It is listed on the NRHP.
