This is how I set out to put together. what I call, a "framed square" pattern quilt. This one is a custom order memory quilt for Julie who sent fabric to be included, to create her own memories.

L’ensemble Musica Nova présente un programme inédit mêlant musique ancienne et création contemporaine. Fruits d’une richesse linguistique et culturelle impressionnante, les musiques d’Europe du Sud, du Maghreb, du Proche-Orient ou de Byzance seront invitées à s’unir le temps d’une rencontre. L’œuvre commandée à Saed Haddad, compositeur originaire de Jordanie, tentera de mettre au jour une harmonie entre les polyphonies du Moyen Âge et les monodies chantées par Anass Habib, chanteur marocain, accompagnées par le qanun d’Aurélie Tissot. La rencontre avec Anass Habib est déterminante dans l’élaboration de ce projet, du fait de son enracinement dans la culture traditionnelle marocaine et son désir d’explorer toutes les musiques de la Méditerranée au-delà des multiples confessions. Le mythe de Babel suscite dans l’imaginaire des hommes une profonde fascination. Dépasser ses limites et sa condition terrestre, construire plus haut et s’élever spirituellement est peut-être l’aspiration la plus partagée des mortels. Les cathédrales gothiques du Moyen Âge en témoignent. La musique elle aussi n’échappe pas à ce désir de produire des œuvres aux proportions démesurées. C’est ce qui avait conduit les hommes, à Babel, à accorder leurs forces dans toute leur diversité. L’œuvre ainsi créée s’inscrira dans une volonté de construire, au-delà des différences linguistiques et musicales, un édifice respectueux des richesses et des diversités.

Went for a Sunday drive today and decided to blow some dust off of my camera and try to come home with a few shots. I drove up Squaw Pass through Evergreen into Idaho Springs and stopped by Echo Lake. It was pretty chilly and starting to snow a bit so I didn't spend a lot of time there.

This particular quilt was made in the Spring of 2009 and sold. The buyer was gracious enough to allow me to delay shipping in order to take to the Country Living Women Entrepreneurs Event, in Chicago on 5/30/09. I also had the privilege of "pitch your product" to an editor and previous years winner. I "Pitched" my echo memory quilts. It was an AWESOME day.

Sunset at White Mountain, NH. Last year I went there during the second week of Oct, but this year I went there on the third week, it was kind of late already. The leaves were almost gone, but still have a very nice view of the lake and mountain.
