In the cleft between infinities, we hold in hand but echoes of a world whose scale we glimpse but cannot comprehend.

More Highlights:
It is strange what a difference a small thing like replacing the statue can have on a view like this. It seemed to give a much greater sense of focus and direction to the line of the avenue through the woods.
It didn't go unnoticed either. Practically everyone noticed the new addition on the old plinth. Most people were convinced that it was in fact a real statue not the 2D flat cardboard replacement I had made the day previously.

Tiny caterpillars escaping from the web
Of their cocoon to freedom
Hurriedly engaging in their activity on the bark
Sunbeams directed through the woods like a halo
Dogs barking in the distance
Their echo heard suddenly
Berries ripe for the taking
As the branches limp from their weight
Through the years trees growing
Between the cracks of the pavement
The parking lot is weed trodden already
As those who came here wept for their loved ones
A sanitarium for tuberculosis
Where in the past there had been no cure
No escape route here for them in those days
But still devastated tears from long ago

ECHO is a series of stainless steel structures created by the Saatchi art artist Husam Chaya.
The Installation form an illusory geometric combination of figures. The intent is for visitors to enter another sound dimension once inside its boundaries as sounds change their properties as they echo off the geometric figures, creating an amazing transformation of the human voice. The idea which the installation is centered around is: “Art is the mirror of our days”.

This is a small roadside park in northern New Mexico where one can walk to the bottom of these cliffs. The depression at the center is a natural bowl that amplifies echoes, almost like a natural whispering chamber.
My brother [and family] dog Snickers and my friend's dog Scout are both Australian Shepherds. All three get along great.
Not my idea of a photogenic background but was lucky to get all three to sit still for this shot. Echo's sit/ stay is great but Snickers [middle dog] won't sit long and Scout [on the right] is six months old and this is almost impossible for him to do when other dogs are there as all he wants to do is jump and run.
Me wearing my Aloha shirt.
I anticipated that someone might come up to me in a bar or someplace and say, "Aloha!" as a pick-up line.
So I prepared my pick-up-line reply: "It also means 'goodbye.'"
Access to health care and the protection of the population is also a huge priority as the fighting escalates along ethnic lines across the country and civilians of all origins fear for their lives. ©EU/ECHO/ Ludovico Gammarelli |
