ECHO ASSIGNMENT WIT-

Well I did think this was an impossible task, and had given up when late one evening or early one morning I was watching music channels on TV , on came a group called "Red Hot Chilli Peppers" with a song called "By The Way" , not long into the track up popped this sign, whoooo !! thank goodness for technology , I Was able to rewind to the appropriate spot ,put it on hold , grab the camera and take the shot.

I did a bit of messing about with colour variations and slight cropping and straightening which meant I lost a little bit of the "K" in "Park".

I don`t know whether its everybody`s idea of Echo but I quite like it

Attention to displaced population has been one of ECHO's key axes of work in the aftermath of the earthquake. They are the most vulnerable populations and ECHO continues to work to address their humanitarian needs, while at the same time funding programs to facilitate the return of camp population to their original neighbourhoods.

“Echoes of Atlantis” is a fine art underwater portrait series that drifts between myth and memory—where beauty dissolves into water and light. Through Nikki’s weightless gestures and the AI-enhanced shimmer of her surroundings, the work reimagines the lost city not as a place but as a feeling: the memory of something exquisite that time has drowned yet never silenced. Blending cinematic photography and surreal post-processing, each image meditates on grace, breath, and the poetry of the deep. Fine art underwater portrait photography

Where else in the Northwest can you stroll past 22 preserved Victorian homes on the National Historic Register? Built in the mid-to-late 1800s, these beautifully restored homes were built to house U.S. Army officers stationed at Vancouver Barracks. The Grant House, built in 1850, now houses The Grant House Restaurant. The Marshall House, built in 1886, offers tours and an exhibit on General George C. Marshall, it’s most famous resident.

SAM describes the work this way:

Echo was modeled on the 9-year old daughter of a restaurant owner near the artist's studio in Barcelona. With computer modeling, Plensa elongates and abstracts the girl's features. The sculpture references Echo, the mountain nymph from Greek mythology. As told in Ovid's Metamorphoses, Echo offended the goddess Hera by keeping her engaged in conversation, and preventing her from spying on one of Zeus's amours. To punish Echo, Hera deprived the nymph of speech, except for the ability to repeat the last words of another. Plensa created this monumental head of Echo, listening with her eyes closed or in a state of meditation. The artist envisions Echo to look out over Puget Sound in the direction of Mount Olympus.

Or stepping? There are some huge sets of steps that go over the convention centre. This morning Echo got to run up and down them a few times to wear her out a little more. As you can see this was very popular.

"In the early 1800’s the scientific community believed Newton’s description of light travelling in straight lines.

In 1818 underdog Augustin-Jean Fresnel submitted his “Wave theory of light” but was laughed out of the French Academy of Sciences as it predicted a bright spot in the centre of circular shadows, something that was regarded by most as ridiculous.

This was until Dominique-François-Jean Arago (who would later go on to become Prime-Minister of France) did as all good scientists should do and tested his preconceptions with an experiment and observed the bright spot just as Fresnel predicted.

This began a revolution in the way scientists thought about light and earned Fresnel a place in history.

In this photograph we can we the “Fresnel spot” in all its glory, produced using a modern laser, in detail Fresnel and Arago would not have been able to see using the light sources of their time."

"Ar ddechrau'r 1800au, roedd y gymuned wyddonol yn credu disgrifiad Newton bo golau yn teithio mewn llinellau syth.

Yn 1818 cyflwynodd y gwyddonydd dinod Augustin Jean Fresnel ei "ddamcaniaeth am oleuni" ond cafodd ei wawdio gan Academi Gwyddorau Ffrainc gan ei bod yn darogan llecyn disglair yng nghanol cysgodion cylchol, rhywbeth a ystyriwyd ei bod, gan amlaf, yn hurt.

Roedd hyn nes i Dominique-François-Jean Arago (a fyddai wedyn yn mynd ymlaen i fod yn Brif Weinidog Ffrainc) wneud a phrofi ei ragdybiaethau fel y dylai pob gwyddonydd da ei wneud gydag arbrawf i arsylwi'r man llachar yn union fel y rhagwelai Fresnel.

Dechreuodd hyn chwyldro yn y ffordd y meddyliai gwyddonwyr am oleuni ac enillodd le i Fresnel mewn hanes.

Yn y ffotograff hwn gallwn weld "llecyn Fresnel" yn ei holl ogoniant, wedi'i gynhyrchu gan ddefnyddio laser modern, mewn manylder na fuasai Fresnel ac Arago wedi llwyddo i weld gan ddefnyddio ffynonellau goleuni eu hamser."

It seems like I always have song lyrics in my head, something to correspond to the place I am at any given time. On my recent trip to Los Angeles, I visited Echo Park and I couldn't stop thinking about a Warren Zevon song, Carmelita .

As an Angelino, Zevon wound references to his city through the song.

I like the ability of an HDR image to create the look of an old hand tinted postcard.
