Sydney Resolution Concert Series is thrilled to announce Sydney’s biggest New Year’s Eve party, which will be staged at Sydney’s Glebe Island overlooking the iconic Sydney Harbour on Saturday December 31st 2011. The inaugural Sydney Resolution Concert Series will feature international superstars including Jamiroquai, Culture Club and Pet Shop Boys, as well as Australia’s very own Guy Sebastian, Pseudo Echo and Lyndsey Ollard.
Sydney Resolution Concert Series is sure to be an unforgettable night of music and festivities, showcasing some of the biggest acts in the world against a backdrop that only Sydney can provide.
With unobstructed, stunning views of the city and the fireworks display, there is no better place to be on New Year’s Eve than Glebe Island. See 2011 out with a bang with some of the world’s biggest classic and contemporary artists, playing all the songs you know and love.
Sydney’s Glebe Island will turn into a ‘mini city’ for this very special event, with a custom-built venue providing the very best in entertainment and bars, an incredible on-site ‘village’ showcasing Sydney’s best local and international food, and a unique array of retail and market stalls.
Sydney Resolution Concert Series will be the hottest ticket in town for New Year’s Eve!
Please be advised that Sydney Resolution Concert Series is a licensed event – all patrons must be over 18 years of age.
Glebe Island is situated on the beautiful Sydney Harbour. All patrons will arrive and depart by ferry or bus service from terminals and wharfs provided by Sydney Resolution Concert Series.
Please note there is no parking at the event. Gates open at 2pm, entertainment commences at 4:00pm and all performances will conclude by 1:45am.
Gates close at 3.00am
Tickets go on sale at 9am on 28th November through Ticketmaster.

Inspired by the gilded textures and sensual forms of Gustav Klimt, Echoes of Klimt captures Lucy in a series of portraits where body and backdrop blur into ornamental harmony. Each frame feels like a painting—opulent, mysterious, and timeless.
I bought another food dispenser for Echo. Here she is eating her lunch. I think this one is a bit too easy for her.
The turret at the left has been hit and on fire. Cool!

Echo Park is a historic area close to the downtown LA civic center, The Echo Park Lake where much of the surrounding homes and business were built around was formed as a reservoir in 1868.
Over the ensuing years the reservoir was transformed into a beautiful lake complete with a boathouse in 1932.
In 2006 Echo Park Lake was declared a City of Los Angeles Cultural Historic Monument and for more information about this lake and all the other unique places to be found in the historic Echo Park area check this link: www.historicechopark.org/index.html
SAM describes the work this way:
Echo was modeled on the 9-year old daughter of a restaurant owner near the artist's studio in Barcelona. With computer modeling, Plensa elongates and abstracts the girl's features. The sculpture references Echo, the mountain nymph from Greek mythology. As told in Ovid's Metamorphoses, Echo offended the goddess Hera by keeping her engaged in conversation, and preventing her from spying on one of Zeus's amours. To punish Echo, Hera deprived the nymph of speech, except for the ability to repeat the last words of another. Plensa created this monumental head of Echo, listening with her eyes closed or in a state of meditation. The artist envisions Echo to look out over Puget Sound in the direction of Mount Olympus.
It seems like I always have song lyrics in my head, something to correspond to the place I am at any given time. On my recent trip to Los Angeles, I visited Echo Park and I couldn't stop thinking about a Warren Zevon song, Carmelita .
As an Angelino, Zevon wound references to his city through the song.
I like the ability of an HDR image to create the look of an old hand tinted postcard.
Echo Drive-in theater in Roosevelt, Utah one of just a few drive-in's remaining in Utah. Since this theater uses RF transmission to your FM radio for sound there are no speaker poles or lines for parking spaces -- looks a little weird but it has everything else even a small playground in front of the screen.
The weather was perfect in Yantai and there such a relaxing atmosphere with just the right mix of Chinese and English being spoken this was the best day I had in Yantai. More beach pics coming soon.

Teaching children how to wash their hands regulalry, especially before meals and after having been to the toilet, is an effective way to prevent the spread of potentially deadly water diseases which affect children in particular.

This is how the structure of a t-shelter looks like. Wood structures stand tremors much better than concrete or cement. This one stands at the atelier of NGO Help, who plans to build many of these for affected populations in the area of Grand and Petit Goave.

Voici à quoi ressemble la structure d’un abri provisoire. Les structures en bois résistent beaucoup mieux aux secousses sismiques que celles en béton ou en ciment. Celle-ci se trouve dans l’atelier de l’ONG Help, qui projette d’en construire un grand nombre pour les populations touchées de la région de Grand-Goâve et de Petit-Goâve.

This photograph depicts a specially-painted 5000-class P.C.C. (Presidents' Conference Committee) streamliner heading north on Glendale Blvd. at Echo Park on the Glendale Burbank Line. The special livery was to promote Navy Recruitment and the car was painted blue.
