Examples and studies for a deacon's office crucifix. The image of Christ has been cut out to reveal a first surface mirror. These are expensive and delicate mirrors such as NASA or medical researchers would use. Normal mirrors are about 92% reflective accuracy; first surface mirrors reflect above 98%. They are so accurate the eye has a hard time telling whether an object is a reflection or the real thing.

Anyway, during the forty days of Lent, the crucifix is "shrouded" by placing the steel cut out of Jesus back into the crucifix. On Easter Morning, the steel cut out is removed and we see ourselves reflected with startling clarity in image of Christ crucified for us.

(The steel cut out is stored on the back of the mirror until the following year.)

Fearing traditional Easter weather Madame had sensibly packed her Chapeau Russes. The mere addition of leftover Christmas Crackers and some jewellery et voila! I, meanwhile, have clearly suggested another cup of tea.
